I was in a car wreck once....
With all the posts about which direction our country is headed, it reminded me of that specific car wreck. Three of us were driving back from a rock concert in Rockingham, NC after 3 days of fun and festival... and rock and roll and drugs. I started out as the driver but was too tired and pulled over at a rest stop. My friend, in the passenger side, said he was OK and he would drive a little. And a little he drove...

About a mile down the road, on the SC/GA border, he went to sleep at the wheel. As I awoke, all I could see were bushes and sticks flying by the window as we were going down a steep hill. The car started to flip. Thoughts raced through my mind. Are we going to land in water? As the car flipped three times, I yelled the entire episode. Finally the car landed right-side up and we were able to get out of the car and stash the marijuana...

But, that is the way I feel about the direction our country is going. We are in the midst of a car wreck and we don't know where we are going to land.

1. Yeah, but vicious, violent drunks
are behind the wheel rather than mellow potheads.

You look at a country like Mexico and it seems more like it's governed by potheads.

3. Where do we stash our stuff?
This country is borrowed out, I am afraid we need to prepare for hard times.

4. Okay, so I gotta ask... where does the pot fit into your analogy?
Is it Social Security?

13. we're more worried about getting busted for the pot
than we are about making it thru the crash alive.

7. The political accident
The brakes (Dems) don't work, the engine (Repukes) is roaring, and the bumps (repuke controlled legislature) are plenty.

Sounds like a real horror movie to me.

8. but no one is asleep at the wheel
we just know before the trip ends that we are going to crash. It's much more terrifying this way.

9. Ever been in the back seat while there's a speeding drunk at the wheel?
...that's kind of how I see it.. totally out of control- and 51% of the people in the car are also trashed and shouting "yaaa-hoo!".. while 49% of the passengers are less out-of-it and fully aware of the potential dangers ahead- bracing for the inevitable.

11. The same 51% pat each other on the back and say "I agree"
They don't check the facts to find out why they support the position that the person is taking. They agree!

12. I think it's more like an impending head-on collision with a huge semi
The tractor-trailer we're about to collide with is carrying a big cargo of REALITY, bush the frat boy is at the wheel and totally oblivious to the responsibility for his passengers.

Reminds me of that bumper sticker: Frat boy runs country into ditch.
