Watch for this now: The SCLM will keep linking up Chimp with the Pope.
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 06:58 PM by scarletwoman
(*SCLM* = "So-called Liberal Media", a term which originated on a liberal/left blog -- I much prefer this to "MSM" which originated with the rightwingers.)

Anyway, the Chimporer WILL attend the Papal funeral in Rome. The media talking heads will intone with hushed and reverant voices about the "special bond" the Chimp had with His Holiness. This already happened, btw, within the first hour after the Pope's death was anounced and the 3 Networks were doing a continuous broadcast from Rome. I believe it was on ABC, but I counldn't swear to it -- I was switching back and forth.

One commentator mentioned John-Paul's stance against the Iraq Invasion, and another chimed in with something like; "Well, yes. But even though they disgreed over Iraq, President Bush always felt a special bond with Pope John-Paul..."

So, watch for this. Additionally, watch for the fading away, in the U.S. media, of any more mention of the Pope's opposition to the Iraq Invasion, while the "special bond"/"Culture of Life"(tm) frame gets flogged over and over again.

Maybe we could make bets as to how many days it will take before that little Iraq "disagreement" will be omitted from mention altogether...

4. He makes me ill!
:puke: The Pope was an honorable, decent man of integrity. He gave people hope. Shrub is the complete polar opposite. He feels a bond, alright! It's called the propaganda, "photo op" bond! He is a shameless fool!

Peace!

A la the tsunami. JEB! is Catholic, after all, and Smirk has his social security tour to tend to. JEB! will go, along with Babs and Poppy, who hear Italy is lovely this time of year.

12. Just wanna give you a heads up - gw IS planning on going to the funeral.

In an unusual measure of respect, President Bush was reported to be making tentative plans to attend the pope's funeral, which would be a first for an American president. As the pope's health has faded, presidential aides have made clear that this was a distinct possibility.

President awaits formal funeral invitation

For months, as the health of Pope John Paul II declined, White House officials developed plans for President Bush to become the first sitting U.S. president to attend the funeral of a pope.

Bush 'to attend Pope's funeral'

US President George W. Bush will attend the Vatican funeral for Pope John Paul II, the first time ever a US leader has taken part in a papal funeral, NBC television has reported.

But the White House said it was waiting to hear from the Vatican leadership before making any announcement about Mr Bush's plans.

Warm up your checkbook, Bluebear! :D

6. The SCLM "always felt a special bond" with the Bush Administration.
So get ready for a steady diet of BU...SH.

10. Conveniently overlooking where the Pope disagreed with Dubya.
Just as the American Church hierarchy overlooked where the Pope disagreed with them: e.g., Iraq Invasion; war in general; death penalty; poverty; and so on.
