In praise of the recent trend to pelt right-wing pundits with foodstuffs
Edited on Fri Apr-01-05 02:02 PM by Memekiller
Let me just go on record as a staunch supporter of the recent trend to pelt right-wing pundits with biodegradables. I always felt the mealy-mouthed left’s well-considered discussions with Ann Coulter about, say, how women in the military led to Abu Ghraib granted Coulter’s side a certain level of credence it didn’t deserve. Simply by granting valuable air time to such nonsense, the media has also given a certain level of credence and respectability to the idea that, oh, John Kerry murdered a naked boy in a loin cloth. A far more proper response would be: ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE????

I might also point out that the non-Republicans who have had their views completely shut out of the media have no choice but to resort to more and more extreme actions to get their point across.

So how should one react when Ann Coulter suggests the only problem she has with Tim McVeigh is that he didn’t go to the New York Times building, or Buchanan suggests a sympathy with the Nazi cause? While insisting they represent the majority of Americans? And the majority of Americans are never given a forum where they can voice their dissent?

A pie in the face will do nicely.

comeback. There is nothing like public humiliation to take arrogant, pompous, windbags down a peg or two. Coconut custard pies are a perfect weapon for taking the wind out of their over-inflated sails.
EDIT: Didn't Henry Kissinger or someone of similar status once get a pie in the face once?

gross i know, but a scary angle to these pie attacks. i'd be afraid to appear in public after a pie attack.

...I draw the line at any projectile that causes damage to anything other than the public ego.

4. I'd get a partner
I throw flour, my partner follows with a bucket of water. Sticky, gluey mess ensues.

5. An ode to the practice
from Chumbawamba:

Just Desserts

See them scramble to the top, watch them fall from grace
Never trust a man with egg on his face
Groucho-Marxists look so sweet
Slapstick anarchists, nice enough to eat
Peter Kropotkin in the way we talk
Charlie Cairoli in the way we walk
See them scramble to the top, watch them fall from grace
Never trust a man with egg on his face
Intellectual tarts with a good left hook
Copycat killers--cover and duck!
Polite assassins
You shout, I scream!
And the party starts on the count of one, two, three
See them scramble to the top, watch them fall from grace
Never trust a man with egg on his face
We talk without words, and everybody understands
Just desserts, delivered by hand
"Nobody move! Or the CEO gets it in the face with cream and dough!"
See them scramble to the top, watch them fall from grace
Never trust a man with egg on his face
