Headline: Democrat Pans Social Security Overhaul

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites)'s proposal to change Social Security (news - web sites) by creating retirement investment accounts for younger workers would shatter the New Deal-era program and burden future generations with debt, a Michigan congressman said.

"This would have dire consequences including major borrowing and massive benefit cuts. It would mean the dismantling of Social Security as we know it," Rep. Sandy Levin said Saturday in the Democratic Party's weekly radio address.

Sitting at 1.88....

Thanks!

2. We are our brothers keeper
The dismantling of SS would would further execute the GOP plan of money to the wealthy and spitting on the poor.

6. I would hate to think of what would happen
if they did get rid of SS. I know the republicans have always hated SS and have been trying to destroy it since FDR created it. I saw the movie "Roger & Me" last week and it really hit home what happened in that movie. So many more cities now days are having troubles and I fear what will happen. People without health care, without jobs and cities and states having financial troubles. :\ I hope and pray we don't lose this issue. It's very important to us as a society.
