Michael Schiavo should sue right-wingers for libel and slander.
I'm sure Michael Schiavo just wants to get on with his life after all this. But I think he'd have a case if he wanted to sue a lot of right-wingers for slander and libel -- painting him to be some sort of cynical murderer, a cad, a money-grubber -- all based on a bunch of bullshit hearsay. The wingers basically say he attacked her and put her in the vegetative state ... on NO evidence whatsoever. The court-appointed guardian spoke on "Nightline" the other night, and totally shot holes in several of those lies about Michael. For one thing, he said Michael doesn't stand to gain much financially from the trust set up for Terri -- there's hardly any money left in the trust, the guardian said.

Also, it's already been documented that, for the first several years after Terri became brain-dead, Michael drove the health-care workers crazy with demands for superior care for his wife. When he realized nothing would bring her out of her vegetative state, he sought to have her wishes (as stated BY HER to him and his family) carried out -- only to be thwarted by a bunch of people who -- though I have no doubt they love her -- basically want to treat her as a family pet.

Michael Schiavo may be a nice guy or a jerk -- I don't know, and I don't care. But I'd love to see those lying wingers have to apologize publicly for all the rumors and lies they've spread about him in order to ensure a woman in a vegetative state continues to suffer in her mortal body. Damn them!

1. That horrible nurse CNN interviewed -
she needs to be sued for claiming Michael Schiavo tried to kill Terri by injecting her with insulin.

I have a feeling he won't do anything though. If I were him, I'd be relieved the fiasco's over and fade quietly away.

11. Nurse Ratchet's been all over the place!
And from her interviews, I get this horrible vision of Weekend At Bernies. The Schindler family even turned down her testimony for their cause in the official court cases.

If anybody's to be sued it's those "journalists" fuelling the fires of misinformation.

Think Rathergate ! Why are the other media whores getting away with this?

3. I think the poor man has spent enough time in court. While I'd love
for him to sue their asses off, I doubt he will.

4. If you read the GAL report, the courts think Michael is the good guy.
Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 11:47 AM by tubbacheez
The oppositions has attacked him viciously, and he probably has a reasonable case against them.

And the media hasn't helped the situation, either.

But at least Michael may find some comfort in knowing that those in the judiciary, who were tasked with remaining calm and sorting through all the evidence, and who actually had access to all the evidence, strongly concluded in his favor.

Here's a summary of the GAL report.

8. "The Name Schiavo will go down in history w/ the likes of Scott Petersen..
...OJ Simpson, etc."....(said on Nancy Grace's show last night by the so-called "spiritual advisor" (one of the Catholic Brothers in his brown hooded robe and tie looking like a monk) and then Nancy Grace with her snide little snarl nodding her head in agreement added " You can add Robert Blake to that list"...

It is absolutely outrageous the things I have heard said about this man who clearly loves his wife and has been dedicated to her. The worse thing is that they say slanderous and unsubstantiated claims (that have even been dismissed in the courts as not being legitimate and credible) and then you have the complicant media whores like Nancy Grace (who claims to be a lawyer following the letter of the law) even giving these people air time and instead of being a jurist or a journalist and asking questions that challenge these claims, they sit there nodding in agreement, giving these liars airtime and adding to the claims....

I think if what that Schindler Family Advisor states that the name "Schiavo will go down in history w/ the likes of Scott Petersen and OJ Simpson" (clearly an accusation that Michael Schiavo is a Wife Murderer and Philanderer) and then has a media person adding Robert Blakes name to the mix, he should have every right to fight back against these people and protect his name from people who are clearly hell bent to make his name with the likes of Petersen, Simpson and Blake et al and paint him incorrectly as such, all based on false allegations and lies.

:grr:

I hope his lawyers are preparing and gathering the evidence as we sit here....They accuse him of wanting money (when there is no money to be gained) but I think if he gets any money, it should be from all these media whores and right-wing nuts accusing him of being such heinous things as a wife killer.

I for one would be happy to contribute to Michael Schiavo's defense fund to go after all of them.....

9. If I had a dime for every time I heard his name linked to Scott Peterson
well I wouldn't be rich but I'd have enough for lunch.

I'd sue if I were him. He didn't choose to be in the public eye, it just happened to him, and his character is certainly being defamed.

10. He should use the events of the past few weeks to fight
for guardian rights without political and religious intervention. This crap should never have happened, and it should never happen again. He could do a lot of good in that arena. I fear there are lots of "Religious" gun nuts out there with plans for him, so he needs to be careful.

12. What about suing
the msm who didn't check the veracity of the claims and let these people go on air with lies. They should be held responsible too.

13. I'd like to see him sue
Gov. bush and Tom Delay to start with. I think he probably just wants some peace and quiet and to get on with his life, I respect the man and his efforts on behalf of his wife. This has to have been hard on his children and partner.

14.  Pat Boone is the most disgusting person involved in this case.
I have seen Boone (the "Christian" singing star) on CNN twice now....as much as declaring that Michael Schiavo is murdering his wife to cover up some awful truth he doesn't want her to reveal if she recovers....Last night on Larry King's show (with a substitute host, Chris Pixley) he said it and nobody confronted him on it...They just let the statement lie there....Pat Boone professes to be this good, Christian citizen....He is DISGUSTING!

15. Another creepy thing ... the way the MSM talks about "blood relatives."
If I had a dime for every time I heard "on behalf of the BLOOD RELATIVES" ...

It's subtle, but it's a way for MSM to suggest Michael doesn't have equal rights because he isn't a "blood relative." He's her husband, for chrissakes!

We spent all last year hearing about defense of marriage, encouraging marriage blah blah blah, and now we hear about "blood relatives" versus the mere husband?

Feh!

16. BTW: I'm glad to see so many people agreeing with this.
This ability of the wingers to smear Michael Schiavo's reputation -- semingly with impunity -- for months now has been bothering me so much.

It DOES remind me of Kerry and the Swiftliars ... you can now spread complete lies in the mainstream media and none of the "journalists" seem to do their jobs (i.e. CHECKING THE FACTS!)

I'm glad to see so many DUers also feeling he has plenty of material over which to sue the prevaricators!

17. Countdown: Schindlers encouraged Michael to date after Terri's tragedy...
Keith said tonight (Thurs) there was a deposition in this case that showed the Schindlers encouragted Michael Schiavo to see other women after they realized Terri was in a persistent vegetative state. Michael's brother says Mr. Schindler told him he should "go out and get laid," in fact.

Brother also says Michael's with Terri all the time.

That shoots a hole in the wingers' accusing him of getting rid of Terri so he could go out and find another woman.

SUE, Michael, SUE!

Keith talked at length about Michael being villified -- there would be plenty of evidence on tape from TV for a slander suit.
