I'd like to see this become the Dem issue: KEEP PRIVATE LIVES PRIVATE
The public response to the Terri Schiavo mess is the FIRST TIME in a LONG TIME that I felt like I was living in America.

The American public is more behind keeping government out of this than it is about almost any other issue.

I hate the intrusiveness of the Republicans into personal choices, and I hope the demns take it and run.

1. That's a good idea.
A very good idea. How should we pass this information along?

5. Roe vs. Wade was one of these things. Just because the repukes
messed with Terry (to their own demise) does not mean we should throw out activist laws that allow a little guy to make a big change. Liberals use these laws to make changes happen all the time.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Is this why the Repukes went along with the Terry fiasco? Was this the angle Karl Rove saw? The payoff? Convince democrats to get rid of the activist test case route to power and laws?

No deal. What do you think i am.. a patsy?

6. It's ironic...
a lot of people see that as a traditional Republican belief. Man the neo-cons did a good job hijacking and completely mutating that political party.

7. Reframe the issue from 'Dems want her to starve to death' to 'Pukes
want to control every aspect of your life, from who you can marry, to what birth control you can use, to what decisions can be made between you and your health-care provider, to what you read in the Poodle Press, to interfering in the private married life of individuals...'
Why is 'LIFE' such a big issue for them at the beginning and at the end, but they don't seem to give a shit about the interval in between when it comes to being 'compassionate conservatives.' What a sick joke.

10. Privacy Amendment to the constitution?
It would codify and protect Roe v. Wade and Griswold v. Connecticut, as well as restricting corporations from collecting, buying, and selling personal information.

12. Here are some would-be bumperstickers that make the point.
None of these really exist, as far as I know. Maybe I'll get some made some day.

(This is my first time posting links to images. Hope I get it right.)

14. the goal of the repugs
is to move government out of the Corporate BOARDROOMS (i.e. de-regulation etc.) and into the BEDROOMS, Livingrooms, Dining rooms of private citizens

the recent interference of GOP-Congress into the Shaivo issue shows that they have no problem with imposing their "values" onto the general public and use it for political gain

my LTTE:

To the Editor:

For many years the Republicans have fought against a National Health Care system. They have labeled it “socialized medicine”. Their reasoning asks “Do you want the government making medical decisions for you or your family?”.

Yet, during the weekend of March 19-20 – the Republicans flip-flopped on their own talking points. The Republican administration is now making medical decisions for you.

From their own talking points – do you want this government making medical decisions for you or your family?

In an attempt to “spin” this and use it as a political tool – the Republicans are raising their eyes to the heavens and pointing to the levels of their “family values”. Where were the “family values” last week -- in Texas, a 5 month old boy died. While Governor of Texas, President Bush supported and signed legislation allowing medical support to be removed – even if it is against the wishes of a parent/guardian.

Where are the Republican “family values” for the many families that struggle with just this type of decision every day? Where are the Republican “family values” for our seniors and children who go hungry every day? Where are the Republican “family values” for people who must decide between buying food or buying needed medicines? Where are the Republican “family values” when programs which value families are being cut by President Bush’s budget? Where are the Republican “family values” for families who have no health care? Where are the Republican “family values” for families who incur catastrophic medical bills and are now no longer allowed to file for bankruptcy?

Family values are more than just words plastered on a stage for a photo-op. Family values means valuing ALL families - not exploiting them to craft talking points.

16. Republicans: Controlling your life from conception to grave
with a few notable exceptions:

They don't get involved in:

making sure you have adequate and affordable healthcare
making sure you can afford food AND housing
making sure your kids get a decent education
making sure you can survive "elderhood"
making sure your food is safe
making sure your medicine is safe
making sure your air is breatheable/water drinkable
making sure your "superiors" do not rip off your pension/retirement funds
making sure there are still animals and "wild" places to look at/visit
making sure that our planet suffers minimal damage from US

They are overly concerned with the "naughty bits" ..especially the "girly ones"..

"The public response to the Terri Schiavo mess is the FIRST TIME in a LONG TIME that I felt like I was living in America."

This is one of the reasons I am a Democrat...
