1. Using a human being for political purposes is WRONG, whether by right or
left.

bush does enough of that already, with the 911 dead.

Why must we do it, too.

7. amen!
what a sad spectacle this is.

And so far it's ONLY the republicans making this partisan, let's keep it that way.

9. Why is it sick to Euthanize someone rather than starve them?
That is the main sticking point on this issue. Unfortunately the Religious Right would not go for Euthanasia and it would end up being a looser issue. It's not politicizing the issue it's simply pointing out an inconsistency on the side of the Right wing. The problem is a lot of people are more uncomfortable with someone actually sticking the needle in and causing the death rather than letting it happen naturally.

Probably the best solution is to give her morphine just in case their is a chance she might feel pain.

10. We have the humanity to do so for our pets, but not for other humans.
But it appears most are ok with the death penalty and ok with hospitals pulling the plug when the life-support bills aren't paid.

2. Don't play this card; it is a no-win situation if you do
This is best left to the parties involved. Congress has no bone in the situation.

4. You don't have to go after the Right just come up with a bill that allows
people in Terri's situation to be euthanized quickly rather than starve to death. Then again I can see the Religious Right calling it murder that way as well. Perhaps you are right. It's a no win situation.

5. major backfire
if Schiavo is allowed to die without our intervention, it will be a letdown for the right-- they were unable to intervene.

If we continue to advocate the position that it's her husband's responsibility, and that it's a nonpolitical family issue, we might actually win over some real small-government conservatives who might be thinking government is getting too involved in a family's life.

6. Yeah, I came to the conclusion that Euthanasia is a looser issue
with a lot of Americans. It's one thing to let nature take it's course but when people start causing death then people freak out even more!
