Halliburton = thieves

KBR spent millions getting $82,100 worth of LPG into Iraq

WASHINGTON - Iraq needed fuel. Halliburton Co. was ordered to get it there — quick. So the Houston-based contractor charged the Pentagon $27.5 million to ship $82,100 worth of cooking and heating fuel.

In the latest revelation about the company's oft-criticized performance in Iraq, a Pentagon audit report disclosed Monday showed Halliburton subsidiary KBR spent $82,100 to buy liquefied petroleum gas, better-known as LPG, in Kuwait and then 335 times that number to transport the fuel into violence-ridden Iraq.

Pentagon auditors combing through the company's books were mystified by this charge.

"It is illogical that it would cost $27,514,833 to deliver $82,100 in LPG fuel," officials from the Defense Contract Audit Agency noted in the report.

7. Read Vanity Faire article here. Halliburton stole to pay asbestos suit.
<http://www.vanityfair.com/commentary/content/printables/050307roco02?print=true>

dick cheney's theiving minions ripped off billions of dollars to pay off the asbestos suit on the company dick stupidly bought.

Where is the outrage at busholini inc's treasonous thievery?

These people's dismembered bodies should be rotting in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue (after appropriate due process, of course).

I mean, how could repugs justify, even to the sheeple, blocking a proper accounting of taxpayer money? And there is just a HUGE amount of graft/fraud/waste, we'd have a field day....

4. Yeah, but let's not force the Pentagon to adjust their budget
or punish Halliburton. Talk about sacred cows... I can remember when we used to be upset over $500 hammers and $1000 toilet seats. In comparison to what's going on now, those budgetary abuses are miniscule.

5. Yikes
I'm fairly capitalistic and am not opposed to companies making a reasonable profit, but this is insane. $1MM would be a 1200% markup, and $27.5MM is roughly a 33500% markup, which is obscene.

9. Well who's going to stop them?
Answer, no one. That fact scares the bejesus out of me. This country is so lost.
