Liberals to blame for the faster onset of puberty!
Edited on Sat Jul-12-03 05:20 PM by Mountainman
I was over in freeperville to see how they are handling the slide in the chimp's poll numbers and came across a post about British schools wanting to teach sex education to kids aged 5 to 16. One reason they gave was the earlier onset of puberty in children today.

This is one freepers reply. I didn't know we were in cotrol of human biology too!

The onset of puberty is faster because liberals push it. These poor kids have no chance of a free childhood. The fast & loose messages swirl around them with no let up. TV, radio, "fashion"... Society has taken their childhood away. It didn't just "happen." IMHO

2. They are right in one sense
Children get much more nutrition and health care today because of liberals. And thus puberty is happening at an earlier age because childrean are better nourished and are in better health.

12. And the Dairy supply
Dairy Cows are pumped full of hormones to keep them lactating constantly.

Girls who drink a lot of milk hit puberty a lot faster than girls who drink only a little or none at all.

Children should NEVER drink milk, unless it's organic. Soy milk has estrogen, so they shouldn't drink that either.

Rice milk or organic milk for kids, Moms!

16. I agree with you about cow's milk but not soy
It's possible that the phytoestrogens in soy actually block the uptake of human estrogen by receptor cells, producing the opposite effect. I think the jury's still out on that one.
But there are a lot of hormones in milk and meat and that could be the cause of early onset of puberty. The problem was serious in Puerto Rico a while back -- prebuscent girls and boys sprouting breasts -- and was traced to high hormone levels in chicken meat.

18. Is that why pregnant women should avoid soy?
I assumed it was because it contained estrogen.

I learn something new everyday on DU. You all are so well informed!

Still, if the jury's still out, it's better safe than sorry. I don't think you want to feed kids anything than could mess with their hormone levels.

5. The pukes have only themselves to blame
Think about it! All the media is owned and operated by them, and they can't escape the fact no matter how often they cry "librul' media!" Our media compels people to buy things and that is clearly a mark of a republican.

They have but themselves to blame. Nobody else.

10. Correct
A huge part of advertising plays on people's fear of "not being sexy". As soon as you become the least bit anxious about your appeal to the opposite (or same) sex those ads start pushing your buttons.

7. What evidence is there that puberty is earlier?
I'd suspect puberty is about where it always was. And sexuality is just less restrained than in our recent (Victorian) past. I thought that during the Roman Empire kids got it on quite early in many cases. Even man/boy sex was quite common.

But I'm just guessing - do you have data?
