Despicable Repub gay-hating campaign smear flyer
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 10:38 PM by KelleyKramer
These Republicans have no shame, this is from a special state house election in rural Alabama and the Republican candidate sent a mailer to thousands of voters attacking Democrat Gloria Dolbare.

The flyer is nothing but a gay-hating pack of lies.

Gloria Dolbare, after 30 years marriage is a recent widow of a lay pastor (the reason for the special election was that her deceased husband held the seat), a special education teacher and a Sunday school teacher.

The flyer questions her faith and accuses her of being a pro-gay supporter because she refused to sign a Christian Coalition pledge to support the ban on gay marriage amendment.

For starters, Mrs. Dolbare was never approached by the CC and never saw the pledge.

The flyer is a vile and despicable example of just how low these hate filled Republicans will go.

There is a copy of the flyer here:
http://www.aladems.net/nucleus/media/1/20050202-RLCad.pdf

Also, there is an update on what the Dems are doing about it on the Alabama Dem blog here:
http://www.aladems.net/nucleus/index.php?itemid=101

Edit: BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN AND READ THE SECOND PAGE OF THE FLYER

NOTE- that flyer is huge, I would like to be able to send it by email, does anyone know how to convert a pdf file to a gif or jpeg??

15. I think you may be right

And yes it IS sad.

But they may have over played their hand on this one though, the repubs are taking a lot of heat on this and the Dems are forcing them to condemn it, the Pukes are finally on the defensive!

4. Defend your family? Defend your marriage?
By opposing homosexuals entering into long-term commitments. OMG, "the gays" are trying to break up my marriage! Do these twits really live in a world where their breeder union is so fragile as to be threatened by someone they don't know entering into matrimony?

Right-wing nutjobs = legislating morality, so you don't have to think about it.

Everyone knows that if we let gays marry, spouses will cheat on one another, have relationships they keep in the closet, they'll lie to one another and get divorces and have one-night stands with male hooker-"journalists"...cats and dogs will rain from the sky and fornicate!

14. Yep, gays in SFO ruined our marriage

Me and the wife ended up getting a Dee-vorced cause of it.

The only good gay is a gay male prostitute in the Bush White House.

5. You can email a pdf attachment
But the recipient needs to have Acrobat to view it. Include in the message that Acrobat is free, and provide a link to the download site.

6. The file size is huge

I was looking for something that would make it smaller.

400k is too much for emailing, especially if people still have dialup.

7. We must destroy Theocratic Fuedalism!
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 10:46 PM by Pushed To The Left
That's a good name for the religious right's philosophy. They worship the almighty dollar, and use Jesus as a political tool. What a sick ideology. This philosophy needs to be soundly defeated. This is why I support groups like the ACLU and others like them. They stand up for the separation of church and state when politicians are afraid to, and the religious right HATES them!

Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 11:14 PM by Straight Shooter
with the caption, "Thou shalt not bear false witness."

I'm sure there are other scriptures available, particularly regarding the Pharisees, et cetera. And if there's dirt on her rival, I suggest she use that, too.

No more Nice Democrat. It's time we played for keeps.

11. Finally!!!
Democrats need to get over the stigma of "getting dirty!" No one is saying go forth and lie, but there is NO reason we can't fight them the same way. One of the reasons the settlers were getting their asses kicked when first coming here was because the natives, despite being outnumbered and out gunned, they fought a 'guerrilla' campaign. The English just marched out and got picked off, one by one. I hate that I have to use the allusion of the Native American genocide, but it does exemplify the point!

12. Thats what the aladem blog said!

I got this from the aladem blog, and there is a quote saying exactly that on there.

From a Dem on the floor of the Ala Senate:

"These self-anointed Christians who propose the display of the Ten Commandments don't care much about the one that says thou shalt not bear false witness."

The Dems in Ala are fighting back and starting to kick some ass! The Repugs are caught so off guard they are either running in circles or running for cover.

GOP campaign group leaves ethics in closet
Thursday, February 17, 2005

Newly elected State Rep. Nick Williams, R-Sims, demonstrated low character when he refused to disavow an ad which falsely suggested that his former opponent, Gloria Dolbare, supports homosexual marriage.

Meanwhile, the political action committee which produced and mailed the ad fumbled its original campaign-finance reporting obligations, and the group's executive committee has not publicly pledged to avoid such sleaze in the future.

The ad was produced by a new PAC called the Alabama Republican Legislative Committee, which is committed to securing a GOP majority in the state Legislature. Its executive committee consists of legislators Scott Beason, Greg Albritton, Jim Carnes, Del Marsh, Steve French and Bradley Byrne. Rep. Beason and Sen. Marsh reportedly signed off on the ad.
