I just want to reach through the keyboard and smack them. ARRRRRRRGGH! I mean, seriously how can someone say that? I've had one person say that to me online and they turned out to be a neo-nazi, go figure.

1. "Bush is too liberal"
They are the crack which will lead to the neocons
ultimate removal from power.

Nurture them.

2. I talked to a knucklehead at a party a few years back that said
exactly that. I shook my head and walked away.

Never argue with an idiot.

3. On an Anglo-British Right-Wing website which I enjoy annoying ....
... an American poster expressed despair that Dubya's Tax Policy made him "Just like his dad." And i don't think it was meant as a complement ...

4. Scary stuff. We'll be Afghanistan before it's all over - government
making and ENFORCING their idea of what is religiously right or wrong. Women and children are always the first to suffer when religion is force-fed. Remember the Salem witch trials - all women.

6. With this crowd...
... It'll be a Banana Republic. It's all they know how
to set up and run.

What's a one trick pony to do? It's trick.

Believe me, they have lots of practice.

5. Yep - several times
It's how they avoid any argument they don't want to have. They just start that name calling and insulting. It doesn't matter if it's the prez they voted for.

7. Don't smack them--encourage them
Bush is not a traditional conservative. His support for big government, big deficits, and nation building differ from traditional conservative thought.

Unfortunately some conservatives see a limited number of ideas, and label anything involving bigger government and new programs as liberal. They have no idea of what liberals really advocate.

Sure, you can try to explain the difference between what Bush has done and what liberals advocate. I would also encourage their opposition to Bush's policies which deviate from what they want. A rift between neocons and traditional conservatives would be a good thing.

8. It's a defense mechanism.
They know, but won't admit, that they disagree with the way he governs (being a corporatist and all). They also "know" that anyone they disagree with is a "dirty librul" so they project the label on to him.

Anyone who calls Bush "too liberal" needs some serious self-examination.
