Gannon's First Gay President Story
Kerry Could Become First Gay President
By Jeff Gannon
Talon News
October 12, 2004

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- Inasmuch as Bill Clinton is considered by some members of the African-American community to be "the first black president" because of their perception of his positions with regard to minority issues, Democratic Sen. John Kerry might someday be known as "the first gay president" were he to win the White House in November.

4. Referees Yell "Foul"...Hypocrisy On Display
Catch 22 time. While I want this "Gannon" story to remain focused on the media side...how he got into all those press briefings, Plame involvement, Kerry/Swift Boat Smear and so on...(there's so much smoke there, it would make R.J. Reynolds blush), there's an interesting side story as to the characters we're seeing come out of this Pundit Payola scandal.

You have an Armstrong Williams on the take for No School Left Intact...where black and minority schools get really left behind. But he had 250,000 reasons to believe as he did.

Now we have "Gannon"/Gluckert who, while not coming out and saying so, is being exposed as being gay and that one of his missions was this and other smears against gays. He had his reasons, too. The sum still to be disclosed.

If we focus on "Gannon"'s sexuality, the media will continue to scream that this is a personal, highly partisan vendetta. They'll use whatever angle they can get to let this fish swim far, far away. The pressure from our side must stay focused on the media manipulation...if it gets into a personality pissing match, we not only lose the story, we lose any media accountability.

7. Yes, an ethics professor at Poynter said it is not ethical to investigate
a reporter's personal life. Is he really a reporter, though? He seems more of a shill.

In any case, Gannon would never have gotten any attention at all without people discovering his Web domains.

8. It's A Slippery Slope
Cindy...we know what "Gannon's" purpose is...and it was to "report"...as in report as he was told and told what to report. His website was loaded with plagerized RNC talking points (Media Matters goes into it chapter and verse) and the reason he drew attention was the question he lobbed at Bunnypants was lifted directly out of the Rushbo show. That's what sent up the red flags. Then the dude taunts us to "come and get him".

Several DU'ers...Grasswire & others have been on the right wing media manipulation story for a long time. We watched it grind up Kerry in the Swift Boat smear, Rather in the "memogate" mirage and so on. We also have lots of names and connections. Each one of these scandals just gives us one more piece in the puzzle. It just amazes me how far this thing appears to be going.

We have to be careful in questioning what is a "reporter" or "journalist". As Will Pitt noted, there are a lot of hard working online writers who are doing the true investigating and exposing truths that would never see the light of day in the corporate media. When you pooh-pooh an online publication, even a right wing one, you, unfortunately, put the good in with the bad.

We now have the ringer in the newsroom...we know he's funded by a Texas Repugnican with involvement in lots of other right wing organizations...now where does this trail lead? Hopefully it will connect with the trails we've discovered in past inquiries...and slowly both a timeline and network of connections will develop. These people have gotten sloppy...but they're still very stealth...they have a very complex network that will be hard to crack.

Cheers!

5. Fair and balanced reporting if I've ever seen it.............
for a journalist so highly regarded in the Journalistic Community.
Rock sold reporting there, I can see why he had no problem getting passes for the White House Press Corps. :eyes:

What a slime ball, I have absolutely NO sympathy for him whatsoever. I hope he gets tortured to death because of this crap. I also hope it leads right back up the steps to the White House, because that's where it all started.

What happens to these people that makes them lose every iota of honesty, integrity and truthfulness? Is it power, greed, money? NONE of those things are worth the price of your integrity. I wouldn't be surprised to see this wretched soul take his own life in the coming days. When he realizes what he's done just to please his political masters there should be no other alternative, at least not for someone with an ounce of integrity. Then again, I haven't seen an ounce of integrity between the whole lot of these right wing lunatics. They've gained the world and lost their souls.
