What They`re Saying about President Bush`s State of the Union Speech

Thursday, February 03, 2005

:puke: CNN Instant Poll: 86 Percent Had Positive Or Somewhat Positive Response To President Bush`s State Of The Union Address. CNN`s Wolf Blitzer: “We`re just getting our instant poll as we call it, CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll. We started polling after the speech. Look at this, overall reaction to the address: very positive 60%, somewhat positive 26%, only 13%, Andrew , said they had a negative reaction to the President`s State of the Union Address. Are you surprised by at least in this initial CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll, such a -- 86% were either positive or somewhat positive?” (CNN`s State Of The Union Address Coverage, 2/2/05)

:puke: MSNBC’s David Shuster: “Just About Every Democrat I Spoke With Away From The Cameras Confessed This Was A Very Good Speech The President Gave, That It Hit The Rights Notes, That It Was Emotional.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2/2/05)

:puke: Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA): “I Think There Are Parts Of It That Were Soaring, That Were Overarching, That Were Very Impressive.” :wtf: (CNN’s “Larry King Live,” 2/2/05)

:puke: NBC’s Tim Russert: “I Think The Speech Tonight Will Be Remembered More For The Passion And Emotion Of The Words About Iraq.” (NBC’s “State Of The Union Coverage,” 2/2/05)

:puke: MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: “I Think It Was One Of The Good Ones. I Think It Was A Powerful Speech. I Could Tell The Whole Night It Was Growing.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2/2/05)

:puke: Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss: “If Anyone Had Any Doubt Before Tonight About The Sweep Of George Bush`s Ambition To Be Remembered As A Great President, Just Listen To The Speech That We Have Just Heard…He Sees His Presidency In Very Grand Terms.” (CNN’s “Larry King Live,” 2/2/05)

:puke: The Weekly Standard’s Fred Barnes: “I Think He Made A Strong Case .” (Fox News’ “State Of The Union Coverage,” 2/2/05)

:puke: NPR’s Juan Williams: “I Reacted To Emotionally … I Thought It Was A Terrifically Suggestive Speech In Terms Of Speaking About Generations And Speaking About America’s Commitment To Young People.” (Fox News’ “State Of The Union Coverage,” 2/2/05)

:puke: John Meacham, Newsweek Managing Editor: “I Think It Was A Remarkable Speech.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2/2/05)

:puke: National Review’s David Frum: “I Thought It Was A Magnificent Speech. I Thought It Was Incredibly Powerful, Powerful… Backed Up By Realities Like The Iraqi Vote.” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2/2/05)

:puke: MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell: “What He Did Tonight Was Challenge Congress In A Way That He Hasn`t Done Before, To Save And Strengthen Social Security, It`s On The Verge Of Bankruptcy. And What He Did Was Put Down And Make Clear Some Specifics…” (MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 2/2/05)

3. Let's see what they say
After Bush invades Iran, his ratings drop into the toilet, and he loses Congress in 2006.

5. I just keep remembering that NY Times article from a couple days ago.
85% vote in Vietnam in the late '60's spun to be a big success.

History will validate us. It'll be excrutiatingly painful to live through time until then (assuming we're not all rounded up and exterminated, of course), but some day... some day history will confirm what DU has said form the start.

6. Some of these are taken out of context.
Remarkable does not always mean good. I heard John Meacham said he thought it sounded Imperial.

And how about the CNN poll being weighted 2-1 for Republicons.

15. I noticed the same figure myself.
As far as I can tell CNN was the only one pointing out that little detail, and they did it in such an "oh-by-the-way" manner I doubt many will notice.

That's okay, though. Bush & Co. will see the glowing numbers, become even more confident and cocky, and will subsequently make even bigger fools of themselves in the long run.

11. The Dance of Suplication...the power whores can't resist.
This little "dance" happens whenever power is transferred or reasserted in this town (DC). Everyone who wants power is oh, so impressed with the latest el jeffe. Well, I've got news for them, this guy is a clown. The real public opinion poll was today's vote on AG. 36 Democrats, many from * win states, voted against this clown. The wind is blowing our way. Don't let the whores and their little dance steer you away.

BTW, after seeing the manipulation of election day polling, is there ANY doubt that CNN is whoring for * through polls, etc.?

14. What bush did last night was pimp a couple of vulnerable women
in an attempt to hide his crimes, his carnage.

Last night was a disgusting display of arrogance by a gang of lying thugs who've assumed power in our nation. They were all there - liar condi, freedom-hater askkkroft, "army you got" rummy - just applauding the glorious killer. Oh their lies to the people, the blood on their hands.

The brain-dead repukes in lockstep. Whatever he said.

Whatever he said.

Democracy betrayed by these goons.

16. Thanks for reminding me why
I turned those bastards OFF on 11/2/04 and why I intend to leave them off.

Jon Stewart was right. They're not merely incompetent propagandists and silly idolators. They're hurting us.
