David Brooks: Preeminent purveyor of pollyanish poppycock? Or
just another entrepreneurial journalist who learned along the way there is more money to be made praising the king than criticizing him?

2. Actually, he's always seemed more snakelike to me
Thinking about it, I pondered why:

1. That smooth, characterless face with its smarmy, too-frequent and insincere smile

2. The way his head starts that weird weaving bob when he really gets going, sort of like a poisonous serpent paralyzing its prey before the death strike

3. His total, utter lack of sincerity or indeed, any identifiably mammalian emotion

4. His apparently inexhaustible supply of snake oil and poison.

But then again, snakes have admirable qualities, so maybe the match isn't perfect after all.

3. Worst writer in the history of the Times Op-Ed page

Facile, breezy commentary by a guy who has never been to Iraq.

Whittaker Chambers? This is a thinly veiled attempt to "red smear" opponents of the War.

Then his puerile slap at "Senators" like Kerry, making "technical arguments" like "Iraqis need more training." Hey, guess what, David? The boots on the ground say the Iraqis need more training - how the hell does he think our boys and girls come home?

Ask the Iraqis who jsut voted what they would like the American soldiers to do. I think the answer would be "go home and let us govern ourselves."

5. Bill Christal Wannabe
Pretend to be a nice, reasonable neo-con. Look bookish and TV-friendly and then spew absolute bullshit when you open your mouth.

Brooks toes the regime line 90% of the time...or, should I say, he sides against Democrats 99% of the time. He's another mypoic "journalist" who has no concept of life outside the power, money and drinkie-drinkie parties of the beltway. He's there to impress his masters, not to inform his readers.

6. Whenever i hear him introduced as "the liberals favorite conservative"
i want to kill my television. Who the fuck crowned him that? I didn't get a ballot. He's even worse than the in your face pundits and writers because he tries to have a veneer of being reasonable.
