1. Here's one of my favorites
http://www.newsdissector.com/blog/ - it's more media aimed, but Danny Schechter rocks!

Welcome to DU mrstick! :hi:

3. those are "Democratic blogs", yes, but not many are not "left/progressive"

Like this one: http://www.dailykos.com --definitely Democratic, but in NO WAY is it Left or Progressive!

Same thing here: http://talkingpointsmemo.com /

Same thing here: http://billmon.org/

I think it is important to seperate out the blogs that deliberately set themselves out to be centrist Democratic and to detail and discuss the minutiae and details of the politics of the Democratic party. That really has nothing to do with progressivism or Leftism....

13. Hmm. Point taken.
However, not knowing mrstick, I wouldn't know if his notion of left/progressive is as stringently defined as yours. All sorts self-identify with both labels (the DLC loves calling themselves "progressives").

I'll add one more I overlooked, Sam Smith's Progressive Review Undernews:

6. By "popular", do you mean large readership?
I believe that http://dailykos.com and http://atrios.blogspot.com/ are certainly two of the biggest. Atrios always has lots of good links to other blogs -- take the time to read the comments there, you'll come across other edifying links therein.

I have alot of personal must-reads; Michael Berube, Steve Gilliard, the Poor Man, James Wolcott, the Rude Pundit, Jesus General, digby.com, Rising Hegemon, Orcinus, Tbogg, billmon.org ...

Try out a few, and click around their blogrolls. There's some truly wonderful thinking and writing going on in the blogosphere, and the information sharing is superb. It's a worthwhile journey.
