Conservative columnist who took 240K from Bush...
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 12:15 PM by CottonBear
...criticized NAACP for sexual harrassment and economic improprieties after settling his own sexual harrassment suit.

The conservative columnist who was fired after accepting $240,000 to promote Bush’s ‘No Child Left Behind’ law rebuked the NAACP for “charges of sexual harassment and economic improprieties” after settling a sexual harassment suit himself, RAW STORY has learned.

Just last month, in an article discussing Kweisi Mfume’s resignation from the nation’s largest civil rights lobby, Williams said the NAACP was “foundering amidst charges of sexual harassment and economic improprieties” when Mfume was hired.

Williams, RAW STORY has discovered, settled accounts for the same misdeeds himself.

In 1997, Williams was sued in a massive 50-charge sexual harassment suit for repeatedly kissing his once male trainer Stephen Gregory who he had promoted repeatedly into his talk-show staff. Gregory claimed Williams had also grabbed his buttocks and genitals and climbed into bed with him on business trips. After rebuffing him, Gregory alleged, the pundit retaliated by reducing his pay and subsequently firing him.

This is so typical of these right wing pundits: Do as I say not as I do. Blue Lemur and Rawstory just broke this story at noon EST.

1. Okay, now I'm really confused.
If Armstrong was using his show as a soapbox, what did he tell the African-American community about gay marriage?

4. He and Trent Lott discussed the issue on the radio.
Here's some of what they said (from the article):

At the time, the Williams had just teased an explosive quote from then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott who said that gays should be treated like those who have a problem with “alcohol … or sex addiction … or kleptomaniacs.”

Williams roundly supported this view.

3. You didn't know about that?
His "reasoning" was that he is a virgin, i.e. he never had sex with a woman, and that by having sex with a man, he would still be a virgin until his wedding night.

Go figure.

5. aside from being old news
this pales in comparison to the current scandal.

Conservative hypocrisy like this harrassment story is so commonplace you hardly notice it anymore.

8. I don't think LBN rules allow that.
Good idea though. I can make a change if a moderator allows it.

This story was LBnews to me although it seems that our more savvy and in-the-know DUers already knew about it.

7. his once male trainer Stephen Gregory - ??? "once male"
He's a woman now? I suppose that's williams defense, "I ain't gay, I was just pre-emptively hitting on STEPHANIE Gregory"

What a nutso. Please let more of the rw-whacko's expose their insanity for all to see.

9. Should the title read 'Bush gives $240,000 of our money to
right wing pusher'.

Seriously, all the focus is on Williams - shouldn't it be on Bush and the cabal? A law was broken, right? Partisan use of taxpayer money?
