The Rovian logic of another al Qaeda attack
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 12:25 PM by BJ
Earlier this morning in a thread on the Latest Breaking News forum about a next al Qaeda attack within the United State, most likely by a nuclear device, I made a sarcastic remark that I hoped a "Red" state got hit.

But then, while I was showering, I got to thinking.

An al Qaeda strike in the Midwest would be a wet-dream for Reichsführer Karl Rove and the Bush administration.

Here's how I envisioned the Rovian logic: imagine an al Qaeda nuclear suit-case bomb detonation in, say, St. Louis. The public outrage would be overwhelming. In fact many liberals would be hard-pressed not to go along with anything the administration requested.

Nor would our ersatz-cowboy king have to go back on his election-year promise of not re-instating a military draft. Since the outrage will be so great millions of red-blooded young men and women will volunteer for military service, no Selective Service required.

And rather than focusing on the most likely source for a nuclear device, Russia, the war drums will beat for an immediate attack on Iran. See where the "Iran's building nuclear weapons" story is going?

Also all opposition to the Patriot Act will crumble. Undoubtedly martial law will be declared in the effected area and, quite possibly, throughout the entire nation. The entire edifice of Constitutional legal jurisprudence will collapse leaving the pReasident and his staff to rule as they see fit.

Now if I can come up this scenario in five or ten minutes in the shower I sure it hasn't crossed the tiny minds of Reichsführer Rove and Dim-Son.

We can only hope it does not come to this.

1. Can you take your Rovian logic somewhere else? I work in STL!

I don't disagree with you though.

Funny how the bigger the screw-up Bush & Co. make, the less the "people" hold him accountable.

So yeah, someone pops a suitcase nuke here, don't blame the folks that cut the money for buying Russia's loose nukes. That's Rovian all right.

3. Let us hope this never come to pass.
But be ever vigilant. For this administration the watchword truly is "the ends justify the means."

2. Is it reaching to say
..that the repugs would even allow it to happen? Or would they allow it to happen in NYC or LA because there are more of us there? I know that is a terrible thing to say, but isn't it really something they wouldn't think of?

4. After
the first of the year, when the dollar drops still further and the market tanks might be a good time.
