Does God Rent Bilboard Space in Your State?
I took a road trip up to North Louisiana and noticed several billboards with messages from god. There were also "Vote Pro-Life" ones as well. (LAMAR advertising)

I wonder if these companies would allow me to put up a message from Satan? Any ideas?

Well what message would you put up from Satan?
Or to go a different way, what if you bought one of those black billboards with white lettering that are from God and said "By the way, I wanted Kerry to win. - God"

6. good idea...and I dont' know
I'm not sure what I would say in a billboard from Satan. Actually your idea may be better. If some joe schmo can put words in god's mouth, why can't i?

25. Make them be from Jesus and use the words of Jesus straight from

the King James Version, since some naive folks think God and Jesus spoke English just as it's spoken in the KJV! They can look up the verses themselves, if they haven't got them memorized. They should be very familiar with the words of Jesus.

24. I LOVE this! "By the way, I wanted John Kerry to win. Love, God."

"What don't you get about 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'?" may actually have been a "God billboard; at least there was something similar. We could easily turn this around on them, not on their faith but on how they live and vote.

DON't go negative. Use the same gentle, amusing style.

Use the words of Jesus about feeding the poor, about the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, about forgiving one another seventy times seven.

Say things like "My Father and I have been worried about you. Don't you remember what I said about not casting the first stone? Love, Jesus."

"WWJD? Who Would Jesus Kill? Would Jesus Support Mr. Bush's Wars?"

Add scripture references, book, chapter and verse, and use primarily, if not only, the Gospels.

Ask George Soros to fund it. Or John and Teresa Kerry.

2. I hear there are Creationist signs in Florida.
"Big Bang? Yeah, right!" -God.

If I were rich I'd by property right next to it and put up a sign saying:

"The Earth revolves around the sun? Yeah, right!" -God.

5. Eh, so what?
It's advertising. I mean, people can pay to put what they want up there. I don't really have a problem with the "message from God" advertisements. People want to pay the money to get that message on there, that's what advertising is for. Seems a silly way of buying up advertising space, as you're not really selling any product and thus not getting anything for your money, but whatever. The God-fearin' Praise Jesus crowd can flush their money all they want.

10. problem is: it's NOT a message from god
these are not quotes from the bible or anything. these are comments that PEOPLE who wrote it think that God might say.

Fill in Blank with your Right Wing Message - God

SO if these guys can write messages from GOD then, anyone should be able to put their message from god as well.

How well do you think that would go over?

"Shop at Wal-mart" -God <--- i bet there would be complaints about that.

abound there!) and some places in NW GA, where I live (Also pretty conservative but they don't drive Beemers and Lexuses or worship money so much as the RW Cobb Countians.)

Hi, RebelOne! :hi: Are you in NE GA?

See his latest billboards along our death trap highway 316 from Athens to Atlanta. Perhaps God should instruct the drivers to slow the hell down, use seatbealts and employ turn signals.

20. That is a brilliant policy.
Britain has huge restrictions on them (only by building sites, railway land and on straight, urban stretches) but I think they're more based on road safety than aesthetics.

19. Some Satan billboards:
"I love a 'good' war." - Satan

"Carry on." - Satan (only in heavily fundie areas)

"Hell is a red state." - Satan

"Buy Diebold." - Satan

"At last, a President who talks my language." - Satan

"I hope the liberals are coming to hell. I've never met one." - Satan

"Stop associating me with fags!" - Satan

"Reagan says hi." - Satan

Not in very good taste, and they won't win a single heart or mind, but it was fun to write them.

27. I think "I love a good war. -- Satan" could be very

effective. No one could deny that Satan would support war. Imprint it on their consciences, make them a little nervous about W's war.

Later, put up "Pre-emptive war: the best thing since sliced bread. -- Satan"

And then:

"Do You Really Think Washington Couldn't Have Kept Me Away from Abu Ghraib? -- Satan"

or

"God Told His Supporter in the White House that Abu Ghraib was Wrong, But The Man Doesn't Listen to Others. -- Satan"

22. He used to, but I guess He decided He was preaching to the choir here.

I think they've only appeared in areas where Protestantism is strong and many people would identify with the sort of spirituality that children have, when they are young and taught the traditional image of God as an old man with a long white beard, a loving and kind, but strict, father.

It's a childish viewpoint, and should be "put away," as St. Paul wrote, "when we become men" but it probably evokes nostalgia for the simpler days of childhood in many viewers. As an ad campaign, I think it was very good, when targeted to the areas where people would be receptive (again, preaching to the choir.). As a Roman Catholic Christian, I know many evangelical Protestants hate me for my beliefs, so I wonder exactly who lurks behind the billboards.

Looking just at the billboards' message, I wasn't offended by them the way I am by most proselytizing, because they were gentle and amusing. Compare "Let's Get Together at My House Before the Game on Sunday. Bring the Kids. Love, God" to "Where Will You Spend Eternity?" (words surrounded by flames) or "REPENT!" and I think you may agree.

Evangelical Protestant Christianity isn't going away anytime soon and I just wish the billboards from God were all we had to contend with from the EPs.

30. A God one:
"Stop putting words in my mouth!"

"Well, I don't remember saying that."

"Yeah, yeah, the Muslims are saying the same thing."

"Ever get embarrassed by your children?"

"I can't remember who I promised Israel to. It was a long time ago."

"I always said I didn't want to get involved in politics."

"I gave Darwin a sneaky look at the blueprints."

"You try creating something this screwed up in six days."

"Of course I haven't returned your calls. I am BUSY, people."

"Crap, I should have stuck with the dinosaurs. They were way cooler."

"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
