Here's the FULL National Exit Poll because people are still looking for #s
I still see threads about people wondering how many Catholics voted for Kerry, Democrats voted for Bush, etc.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html

There is a full nation wide exit poll that will tell you everything right down to how people who go to church monthly voted. Have fun, it's interesting data.

According to their "who did you vote for in 2000" statistics:

There are 19.7M people that didn't vote in 2000 but voted this time, which breaks down to 10.6M for Kerry and 8.9M for Bush.

42.9M Gore voters, giving 38.6M votes to Kerry and 4.3M votes to Bush.

49.9M Bush voters, giving 4.5M votes to Kerry and 45.1M votes to Bush.

3.5M "Other" voters (most are probably Nader voters), giving 2.5M votes to Kerry and 730k votes to Bush.

The totals here should be Kerry 56.2M, Bush 59.0M.

BUT, their defection rates are way different from what has been reported previously. Using the previously reported defection rates (7% of Gore to Bush, 11% of Bush to Kerry), you should see:

42.9M Gore voters, giving 39.9M votes to Kerry, and 3.0M votes to Bush.

49.9M Bush voters, giving 5.5M votes to Kerry, and 44.4M votes to Bush.

And adding up again, the totals should be 58.5M for Kerry and 57.0M for Bush.

Something's fishy with these numbers.... as well as the fact that we somehow lost 8.1M Gore voters to apathy (!), while they only lost 600k.

are strained as parameters are arbitrarily changed
