At its core, the Republican Party of George Bush believes in nothing
except Power. And precisely because it believes in nothing, it has to invent issues in which it supposedly believes. Thus the War on Terror was born to give Bush a Churchill like patina. With it came his War on Iraq even though it was not related. His fake religiosity assured the born again crowd that all is forgiven for this rich man's son who has mended his ways. His willingness to strike at anyone and everyone domestic or international gave him the leadership mantle. His support for legislation against abortion rights, his stance against affirmative action, his opposition to sstem cell research, his defiance of treaties on global warming and his willingness to abrogate the separation of Church and State are all designed to give him a belief system which clearly he does not possess.

This will continue until he abandons these beliefs in favor of something else that will ensure his power. As I said in another thread yesterday, this is a government of opportunists, by opportunists and for opportunists.

1. I agree ... Bush and Karl Rove are all about Power ... and ..
'winning.' Anyone that thinks they have America's good in mind needs to talk to me about buying a certain bridge in San Francisco...

3. The military industrial complex
has always usurped religion and patriotism as their cause and strength.

They don't have to personally believe to make the scam work.

4. Oh, I soooo agree with you KBN...
I am so tired of hearing about Smirk's faith and Jesus, etc.
I think these people are cynics and are only exploiting the suckers who believe in the Rapture or whatever...

I also think he is still drinking, that they facilitated 9/11/2001 - kinda half way between LIHOP and MIHOP -, and I think they will stop at nothing, I mean NOTHING to stay in power.

I wish the Democrats in Congress could see this, and stop playing "politics as usual". This is not usual. This is the rise of fascism in the most powerful nation in the world.

urgh.

5. It'll be interesting to see how Buxh deals with the EU / Iran deal
It seems the EU offered Iran protection from US sanctions if they stop nuke WMD research and agree to ship oil to Europe and Russia.

Of course the White House wants to nix the deal since that oil legally belongs to GWBuxh, but I don't know if he wants to go THAT unilateral. (WWIII ?)

Expect the new Sec of State to declare that such diplomacy is futile and the Iranians only know one kind of language. (Regime change)
