136K votes have "set the agenda" for the next 4 years in media
Kerry wins Ohio, and all the media would be talking about ISSUES that affect us ALL, instead of this values mumbo-jumbo.

It's all just a clever way to say NOTHING about things that affect and unite us. So for the next 4 years we can all contemplate our navels and wonder why we are not a better society.

We should be talking about how massive the turn out was and about important things will be getting the proper scrutiny from now on.

What we will actually be getting is just more Oprah & Dr.Phil claptrap about how we need to improve ourselves. The blame for the election fiasco #3 will be placed fully on the backs of the poor voters who did their level best to correct a huge wrong, and were repaid with treachery and chicanery.

The media will continue to pit the various groups against each other, because a divided people cannot EVER agree long enough to actually get important things done.

Meanwhile *² and his pals will be flying just below the radar while we are all distracted.

Three & a half years from now we will again start to focus on what remains of our country, but by then will it even be there?

4. NOT if we can't have paper ballots with an audit trail
The GOPigs might allow a few dems (non liberals) to win elections here and there -- but if they control counting the votes -- they can make up any number they want. AND no get out the vote can overcome that reality.

We will have another faith based fictitious election -- and even the blue states could fall -- this is probably Rove's wet dream.

Oh and count on the terror warning level being raised to orange -- to keep the fear based emotional manipulation pre-election phobia kicked into high gear.

2. we could have cut or exceeded his popular vote margin
if they had spend just a little amount of money in solid red and solid blue states.

much of bush's increase in popular vote is a result of increase in turnout in areas that are solid red.

3. You know? I don't buy that
I really doubt that a few ads or visits to red/blue states would have made that much of a difference.

The increase in popular vote is just as phony as *²

5. i agree
just a hundred fraudulant votes in 10000 precincts makes a big difference in the popular vote. Not big time...a bit here and a bit there. that's the way they did it. untraceable.
My hit is that an enourmous effort on our part during the next 2 years to influence the local officials in each and every one of our districts to clean up the process could work. there are, believe it or not, a lot of honest folks out there.

7. 110K x 31 states = 4.31 million (the mandate)
not all states could "deliver" 100K extra, but the difference could easily be manufactured in Texas, and the deep south.. no one would doubt a huge win for him there.. That's the mandate, folks..

People who are willing to manufacture a win, will not hesitate to manufacture a BIG win..

6. The Bush Junta throws around the word mandate as if
it were god or something.

Even if he "won" by one vote, he'd still claim a divine mandate.

He reminds me of a four year old who wins a game and can't stop reminding everyone about it, even though some of the adults at the table let him win.

8. It was even less in 2002
I think it was 41,000 votes that separated us from maintaining senate control. Missouri and New Hampshire, I guess it was. Could have been Minnesota also. Some combination of 41,000 votes.

We netted +3 governorships in 2002 and lost 4 or 5 house seats. But those 41,000 votes allowed the media to declare it an amazing Bush-agenda triumph.

9. Georgia was the biggest loss in 02.
We lost a congresswoman, a governor and a senator..

That was the "All-Diebold-All-The-Time" Georgia test-run..
(the precursor to 04)..

The dems sat down and accepted it, so why would the repubes be afraid to take it nationwide?
