Should we get involved in getting an Ohio recount?
I just read Greg Palast's article on the vote in Ohio. He said that Kerry won there and New Mexico. He makes some really good points (as he always does) but says there won't be a recount because the Secretary of State, J. Kenneth Blackwell is a rabid Republican.
The Green party candidate and the Libertarian party candidate say they are going to demand a recount in Ohio after the election is validated which should be next week. It will cost them $110,000 to do that. We can contribute to the cost at www.votecobb.org or https://badnarik.org . I think it would be well worth a few dollars each for us to help them get the recount. If Blackwell refuses maybe all of us can start a letter writing campaign. All it takes is numbers and we have them here. Maybe we can use our numbers to make a difference. What do you think?

1. MoveOn is also getting something rolling
I contributed to them today. I'll throw a few bucks at Cobb and Badnarik too.
I wrote over 100 letters for the Dean campaign and would love to get involved at that level again.
Maybe those campaigns have mailing lists???

Use this link

to have Moveon help you get your request to Congress.

7. Yea, I got the MoveOn one too.
I thought these guys might have a better chance though because they were actually on the ballot. Of course, I'll contribute to all of them in the hopes that someone gets the recount done.

9. I was Googling Ohio election recount laws
and came up with this website:

http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/electionlaw/procedures_recount04.html

It has the laws for recounts for every state. Very good information.

Ohio law applies to: Candiate Initiated, Voter Initiated, and Close Election:
If the number of votes cast for the declared winning candidate in a district election does not exceed the number of votes cast for the declared losing candidate by a margin of one-half of one percent or more of the total vote, a recount shall be conducted. If the number of votes cast for the declared winning candidate in a statewide election does not exceed the number of voted cast for the declared losing candidate by a margin of one-fourth of one percent or more of the total vote, a recount shall be conducted. Any candidate who was not declared elected may submit an application for a recount of the votes. Any group of 5 or more qualified electors may also file an application for a recount of the votes at an election upon any question or issue, provided that they either voted "Yes" or in favor of an issue that was defeated of they voted "No" or against an issue that was adopted. Ohio Revised Code §3515.01 – 3515.071
