We need to start working on the midterms right now. We simply can't afford to fold like the dems did last time. We need to provide serious challanges in every race and I think we should even provide serious challanges to conservative democrats.

2. Here ... this should help
http://www.fec.gov/pubrec/fe2000/sixyearcycle.htm

This lists the Senate classes for the last three cycles.

This one breaks down the results of the 2000 Senate elections.

3. Good question
However, re: incumbent conservative Democrats: Nominating a more liberal candidate in a conservative district could well lead to losing the seat to the Republican challenger. Being the majority part in the house carries a lot of power. Take back the house, get a comfortable majority, then worry about replacing conservative Democrats.

Note that the Republican establishment strongly supported Arlen Spector in his primary challenge by Toomey, even though Toomey is a card carrying conservative and Spector is a RINO - maintaining a majority was more important in a closely divided senate than the risk of losing a seat.

and many more conservative dems while they may not agree with us on everything are often than not democratic partisans just more conservative.
