Hey, can anyone fetch me some links on the Bush Draft?
My mom called last night wondering about info on the upcoming draft, the likely draft order, and the hardships that could get a deferment.

I googled what I could and told her that the order would be 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 19, 18, and that the only known deferments were for CO status and severe disabilities. I could be wrong on any of these and the few links I found on it were either articles or Gov't bullshit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I told her that Mexico is looking pretty good since I gave her the house and she can make a good enough profit to do them for awhile down there.

I have two brothers of draft age, one is 24 and the other just turned 18 and a sister who is 17. They all could face the draft and my 18 y.o. brother just got his SS notice so this will be a big help.

Thanks again. Man, they are starting this quick.

6. Got it, thanks.
What I got from that was it keeps people from opting out of selective service registration by making school registration and SS registration together so kids can't go to school if they haven't registered with SS. One of my googles was how part of resisting would be not to sign up with SS.

5. here are a bunch
copy/pasted from an email

Here is the guy in charge:

"Alfred Rascon was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the 10th Director of the Selective Service System on May 22, 2001, after being nominated by President George W. Bush. He is directly responsible to the President for the management of the Selective Service System."

That guy's document:

See the third page, third paragraph: "Defense manpower officials concede…."

From rock the vote (mtv)

http://www.rockthevote.com/rtv-afs-reality.htm

"Rangel has stated that his intention is not to bring back the draft. Rather, by using an issue that holds a deep emotional resonance for many Americans, he is addressing the class disparity between the Americans who serve in the military and the civilians responsible for leading them. Rangel's draft proposal has one key difference from its Vietnam War predecessor: in order to equitably spread the cost of military service, it carries no exemptions for students in college or graduate school"
This is called a "protest bill," and was created not with the intent of passing (it didn't), but of getting people to WAKE THE FUCK UP and be willing to sacrifice if you are going to support a war.

7. This is great . I'll give it to her
She should read all of those links. Thanks. Funny the only exemptions now are for Preachers or religious students. The CO status is harder to prove now.
