Apologies for my Anti-Kerry Freakout
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 09:44 PM by kingfish_junior
I was one of the people who started yelling obscenities and conspiracy theories when I found out he had conceded without challenging the voter fraud.

I now realize that was against the philosophy I'm trying to live in my life. What I believe in is that in life, all you can control is your actions, not the result of your actions. Therefore, all of the effort that Dems put into this campaign was not wasted. If I spend four years building a house with my bare hands and it burns down the next day, I still have the self-improvement and learning and muscles and experience. No one can take that away. The house, in the end, can never be relied on. All we can do is the work, and hope for the best. As long as we refuse to destroy ourselves and render ourselves immobile with self-recrimination, blame, fear, etc., we can leverage the power and experience of Campaigns 2000 and 2004 and go on to whip ass next time.

I'm sorry I posted negative things about Kerry, and will stop. I don't delude myself into thinking my posting is an important issue to anyone, but just wanted to get this off my chest.

1. I was pretty angry too
but took it out on my poor husband instead. :)

We are all mad or sad or insane at this point.

Say ten "Hail Halliburtons" and sin no more. ;)

2. It's okay hun,
we were all hurting.

But I still see Kerry as one of our generals. He had to survive to fight another day. I didn't need a "Gored" candidate.

6. I agree
We are all hurting. But the last thing we need to do is blame each other. All of us involved in this campaign have met some great people. Let's stay in touch and build upon it.

7. It's ok, we all need to go through the process right now.
Take your time to get through this, we are all still here.

8. After the denial comes the anger. I forget those "stages of grief"
and have to learn them anew every time. I remember "acceptance being in thre somewhere as well, but I'm skipping that one for now.
Don't sweat it, eh? :)

9. your post made me cry- thank you for reminding me what this is all about
thank you Kingfish- I have been yelling about Kerry all day on the phone to friends and family. But, your right- the learning and value is in the journey not in the destination.

and eventually we will get to our desired destination. My mom's b-day is today and she was crying- I promised her some birthday in the future she would get a new president.

10. I can tell you're a true Democrat!
Because you can realize you made a mistake, own up to it, and clean up your mess.

Would that we had a man like that in the White House.

11. It's okay and it is part of the process
People have different ways of dealing with the loss and I'm sure others will take longer to digest this loss.

I was never angry with the senator but I fear what is to come in the next four years when the Republicans control everything.

My feeling now is "How did this happen?" :-(

And like you, I won't post negative Kerry stuff again. I posted some pretty harsh stuff earlier today.

I started out as a Dean supporter, but really liked Kerry as a candidate. He totally won me over, and I believe he did his best.

But we have to dust ourselves off in order to fight another day.

I keep telling myself that "No one said it would be easy."

13. I've been angry at these anti-Kerry sentiments...
but I've been more disappointed. I understand your anger. While some people yelled, some shrunk into themselves, some attacked Republicans...we all deal with grief in different ways. Let us come together and comfort each other.

15. In his concession I wanted him to say that we'd hold Bush's feet
to the fire and make sure that we were not marginalized. I was not mad when he didn't speak strongly, but I was disappointed. I took my lawn sign down as soon as the speech ended. Later I went out, and when I came home, found that my husband had put the sign back out in front of the house. When I explained that Kerry had conceded, he said, yeah--but he really wants to keep the sign up for a while anyway. Then he told me that he's changing his affiliation from Independent to Democrat. Both this election and Kerry's hard work on our behalf--have inspired him to do more--and I plan to do more, too.
