Please e-mail the Kerry campaign about the $87 bil question!

Let's swamp the campaign with e-mails insisting that Kerry once and for all clarify the $87 bil vote. I'm terrified that it hasn't occurred to them to put this into words that will resonate with people.

Here's what I wrote:

Dear Kerry campaign,

I have watched both debates, and I've been very impressed with the way senator Kerry has carried himself. I think he has made great headway against Bush on almost every issue, but the one issue I wish he would have been clearer on is the $87 bil. vote that the republicans have used as the foundation for the false claim that Kerry is a "flip-flopper".

Rather than the mushy and vague explanation that he "misspoke about his vote, he should frame it exactly like this:

"Mr. President, I voted for the first $87 bil funding package, the one that paid for the equipment with loans to Iraq and with a rollback of the tax cuts for the richest Americans, but you threatened to VETO that package, and forced the senate to come up with one that added ALL the costs to the deficit. THAT's why I had to vote against the SECOND version, as a protest against YOUR reckless spending.

So I would ask WHY the President threatened to VETO our package to get the supplies to the troops? Why is ballooning the deficit more important to him than our troops?"

Kerry is a lawyer, so maybe he can phrase this in a more effective way, but thus far I'm very disappointed in how he's handled this question.

Anyway, I'm behind you 100%. GO KERRY!

Yours, **** *****

Please let them know how you feel about this if you are as concerned about this as I am.

1. Maybe he's waiting for the last debate to close this issue
The viewership for the last debate should be the highest of the three. Bush can't resist raising the 87 billion vote again.

It would be a great time for Kerry to wrap this whole thing up.

But...He should also mention he didn't want no bid Halliburton contracts, and Bush did, and now Halliburton is under investigation.

Game, set, match.

2. I sure hope so. I keep waiting for him to make an easy to
understand explanation for the people who won't take the time to look it up for themselves. It's so frustrating. WE know the truth behind the vote. Kerry HAS to do this once and for all.
