FEMA Disaster Drill Set For Election Day.....SCARY
On Tuesday, September 28th, a new federally-funded, FEMA-directed citizen training program began in my town called CERT. CERT stands for "Community Emergency Response Team.”
35 Days Till Disaster: Is an Election Day Faux-Terror Event All But CERTain?

22. Yes...
he is able to sit up for 5 - 15 minutes then must go back to horizontal.

Even better, he sounds like himself.

5. whoa
that's not good... I know that FEMA have higher power than president does if they declare 'emergency'...

In other words, maybe that's what GOP plan for 'October Surprise'? I mean if Kerry have more chance to win the election, will they declare 'emergency' and stop the election?

I know, I know that was paranoid talk but never know..

6. CERT has been going on for a long time
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 09:25 PM by Columbia
All over the country and training is pretty much continuous.

Something may indeed happen on Election Day, but I wouldn't take this as a sign of it.

And I'll add that CERTs are locally controlled and operated.

7. FEMA had swell timing on 9/11, too.
Edited on Tue Oct-05-04 09:30 PM by Minstrel Boy
Showed up in New York a day early for the TRIPOD II drill, which was to begin on the 12th.

A lot of people still think FEMA arriving early is a debunked urban myth. Here's Giuliani before the 9/11 commission:

"...the reason Pier 92 was selected as a command center was because on the next day, on September 12, Pier 92 was going to have a drill, it had hundreds of people here, from FEMA, from the Federal Government, from the State, from the State Emergency Management Office, and they were getting ready for a drill for biochemical attack. So that was gonna be the place they were going to have the drill. The equipment was already there, so we were able to establish a command center there, within three days, that was two and a half to three times bigger than the command center that we had lost at 7 World Trade Center. And it was from there that the rest of the search and rescue effort was completed."

So, not only was FEMA early, but they were already set up to replace the command center lost in WTC 7.

and Remember what was his name...Kennedy saying...

"We arrived in New York Monday Night and were one of the first teams on site tuesday morning". Heard it myself on CBS.

He was with FEMA...but since then he has disavowed that statement.

13. Right. Initially, we had only Kennedy's statement to Rather,
and when he said he'd mispoken, that seemed to have debunked the rumour.

But then along comes Giuliani: Hey, it was a great stroke of luck - FEMA was already in place; we had a better command center....

12.  If the election is not postponed, that is.
Former CIA official looks to leak the truth

Part of the message McGovern is pressing through his writing is to encourage current CIA analysts not to make his mistake. He said analysts may have many reasons not to leak - job security, a family, a mortgage.
"Do it anyway," he said. "That's the patriotic thing to do."
McGovern said such leaks could potentially affect the election. If the election is not postponed, that is. He said he thinks the groundwork already has been laid for doing so if a terrorist threat arises. The American people need to pay attention, he said, and push for it to go on.

17. I've been worried about an election morning incident...
If the "Diebold Fix" is in the works, and the extreme resistance to proper auditing procedures says it is, then their biggest problem will be to sell the fix.

To sell the fix, several things are needed:

1.) Polls that conflict and/or show Bush with a big lead

2.) A media that hammers on why Kerry should/will lose

3.) Poor exit polling

4.) Poor election day turnout

The last point is, so far, the only one that hasn't been "fixed" yet. Indeed, all indications are that we will see the largest voter turnout in several decades.

Republicans are pushing absentee voting. While there are other explanations for this, an election morning incident that suppresses voter turnout will amplify its importance.

19. I concur...
Massive Voter Turnout is the great unknown in the whole equation. Other than Terra attacks...I don't see how they can pull it off.

21. There's no question that all the negative campaigning by B-C...
is aimed at suppressing turnout. Their problem is that it doesn't seem to be working.
