10. Actually Matt tried to pin her - he is just not very good at this new idea
He has to interrupt when she lies
and Karen responds to the first interruption by saying the lie again
and Matt has to say that she has just lied(for example, "most folks would say that is a lie") and then say "but let's move on" - and this is where he fell down.
The GOP lie - and argue - and lie - and argue - and are very good at making the response seem "right" despite the response being a lie. Our Media does not know how to handle this.
But this time Matt really did try - at least a little - to get a truth out that was negative for Bush.
He is just not very good at this new idea of challenging GOP lies.
Then again perhaps it was a dog and pony show where we were supposed to think he was trying - as he let her win the battle.
Indeed the second choice seems more likely on NBC given Russert and there past behavior.
8. Matt Lauer asked whether evolving positions makes * a flip flopper
He cited the 9/11 commission and one other example. Hughes said he supported the commission but didn't totally answer the question and Lauer let her off the hook. Good question, though. Maybe if it had been Kitty Kelley Matt would have been a little tougher.
