Swift Boat ad question - After Bush denounced ads by 527's,
I've read that the Swift Boat ads continued to be aired. I'm trying to educate a 'thick' Republican neighbor of mine on a number of issues. My printer is getting quite a workout. Does anyone know when and for how long the ads continued to be aired? Any links to articles about the Swift Boat ad continuing to be aired after Bush denounced the 527's? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

2. I think you are very much mistaken. the two are deeply intertwined
At every turn there is a new connection discovered between Bush* Campaign and the Smear Vets. They are indeed one and the same.

My Republican neighbor argued with me that Bush denounced the Swift Boat ad and praised Kerry for his military service in Vietnam. He needs articles from newspapers for me to back up every claim I make about Bush. My printer has never been used this much. I've followed this story since it came out. I've found articles about McCain criticizing the ads written on Aug. 6, 2004. Also found articles dated Aug. 23, 2004 stating Bush finally denounced ads by outside groups including the Swift Boat ad and praised Kerry for his military service. Too little, too late, damage was done as far as we all know. However, the Republicans use this to claim Bush spoke out against the ads.

Is the Swift Boat ad still being aired? Where and any newspaper links discussing the ad? Thanks.

4. Do you mean a paid airing or free airing?
faux news aired it as a news item several hundred times for free. This last Thursday, as an example, the windsurfer anti Kerry ad ran on msnbc and cnn over a hundred times as a news item. There were about 2 Kerry ads run in the same time period. Someone needs to look into this nonsense.

6. As far as I know they're still running.
Isn't that why o'neill was on matthew's show last week - to discuss their new ad? I try and avoid television as much as possible, but I'm under the impression that the ads keep coming. What I don't understand though is the campaign finance law. I thought 527s couldn't air within a certain number of days of the election, which is why MoveOn is a PAC as well as 527. I haven't seen any swift boat ads, but I have seen the windsurfing one and thought it was a 527. What is the deadline for airing these?

7. Faux isn't going to run the new Smear Boat ad
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 11:24 AM by kskiska
…Fox News rejected the ad as having "no actual evidence," Vice President Dianne Brandi said. She also turned down the latest spot from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth because it "accuses Kerry of treason, a crime punishable by death."

10. Howie Kurtz is a putz
Glad that he reported this overdue "Fox" Accomplishment.

I have been so sick of his Reliable Sources segments on CNN this week.
