3. Even though you are Texas I don't wish storms on you...Hurricanes or
TD's. I've lived through them...and hope you stay safe there. Too much has been losts with the Hurricanes this Summer...don't want any more misery.

As a DU'er from the Hurricance Zone...

6. It'll be ok. 35mph winds and gentle rains
TD's I can handle. Its those hurricanes that hurt. Thanks for the concern and glad you made it through your storms.

:-)

Might not be quite so gentle.

12. Been through lots of those
winds not as bad as a big thunderstorm.

As long as it doesn't stall and inundate us, we'll be ok. But, if its strengthening it does bear watching.

Not good to be too complacent.

5. I like when weird things like that happen
Once every few years or so an Atlantic hurricane manages to cross the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and becomes a Pacific tropical storm or hurricane. They give it a new name.

A couple of years ago an Atlantic hurricane became a "subtropical storm". I'd never heard of that before.

And then there was the one in the South Atlantic this spring - the first ever recorded.

10. I'll take "strange weather phenomenon" for $100, Alex
Good trivia question what were the names of the storm that crossed over the isthmus--and how many twins in central america have the same names?

Guess I'll pass on washing the car this week. The only way I get weather news is to see threads like this because to me any TV news is a waste of time.

8. Pretty crazy...
The thing is right where it was before.. if it was headed back into Alabama again that would be the ultimate irony... the thing hits, and hits hard, Cat 3.. then dies out over the east central US... the remnant come back down and re-develops and hits them again. (the remnants actually passed over my house in recent days.. lots of rain)

Im going to read the NHC discussion now, this oughta be interesting.

Heyo
