Ahhh, I Love the Smell of Burning Repuke Ass in the Morning..............
I was watching the Alabama circus this a.m. (and we thought only CA put on a circus). Sit back, sip some wine and enjoy.

So some cub reporter is telling us that ONE HUNDRED (yep, that's 100) protesters are gathered on the steps of the court to protest the removeal of the 10 commandment monument-----(WOW--One hundred people??--where the fuck is the media coverage of ten times that which have greeted Bush all over this nation from day one of his reign - including Earl and Skinner and the protesters at his innaugeral parade??!!). Anyway, I digress..........

So cub reporter interviews some preacherman who says that the Governor and a long list of elected officials will be removed from office and voted out over this. Cub is in a panic (after all he works for the MEDIA REPUKE WHORES). So Cub, says: but, but, but these are repbulicans. Preacherman knows and doesn't care. These are evil people and his forces will 'get 'em'. Wellll,,,,

As an active, church going (you wouldn't know it by my mouth here) Christian for 58 years, I laughed 'cause there is something I know. These ultra-right wing born agains not only hate non-Christians; they hate 95% of their fellow Christians. And I knew they would eventually all turn on each other. These people have a narrow view that says that throughout all of history, God had them and only them in mind. It's their way or the highway, and they want to take over our government and shove that way down your throat. With their "God talk" they have suckered in so many mainstream Christians who don't know what they are dealing with----sort of like being an evnironmenalist as opposed to being part of the terrorist group who goes around blowing up and setting fire to things to protest environmental issues.

I love to see that it's coming to this---and hopefully a bunch of stupid Americans will watch this coverage tonight and say "what's with these assholes and that this reminds me of all that mess with these assholes down there during civil rights". Ohhhhhhhhhhh, and how could I forget: the cub reporter eventually said that the federal judge who said "get rid of the damn thing" was a Bush appointee.........they didn't like that either. The scum who are destroying are nation are now destroying each other---how "Christian" of them.

1. I was watching the coverage as well...
and they were talking about some of the protestors calming down the ones who were thinking of resorting to violence.

I turned to my wife and said, "That would have been awfully Christian of them."\

I consider myself a Christian as well, and people like those are the exact reason I hardly attend church anymore.

2. Commandments
I was embarrassed just watching them. They were playing to the audience. They try to out-Christian each other. Fundamentalists are with us from now on in every religion. I am a Christian also because my Jewish Grandfather married a gentile. Only in my later years have I really thought deeply about religion. No wonder there are atheists with us. Who can understand religion? I am beginning to wonder if I actually am an agnostic. But, when I fly anywhere I wear my Star of David earrings and a cross around my neck. I suppose I am hedging but I feel like I have it covered. I rarely go to church anymore.

11. Cow-irker of mine...
...wore this Star of David with a cross on it. I innocently asked "oh! are you a Messianic Jew?" "Oh, no. I'm a born again christian, and we're adopted members of the Jewish people and are going to be saved with them." Some days you just hurt yourself trying not to laugh at them.

28. Speaking of playing to the audience
I didn't know one needed a microphone and P.A. system to talk to The Almighty. They weren't praying to God, they were playing for the cameras.

Did anybody see Press & Buchanan this afternoon? Press asked one of the protesters, "What if the Hare Krishnas wanted to put up a display in the rotunda?" And this clown actually said they couldn't do that, but it was OK for Christians because "we founded this country!"

All I could think of was that verse in the Bible, "Jesus wept."

3. Missouri Teacher--the thing that interested me
I was watching the CNN or MSNBC (whichever) poll that was coming in about evenly split on the removal. So, in other words, there are a lot of people watching and caring about this idiocy. That's when my political lightbulb went on. This isn't the rightwingers vs. the dreaded demon Dems. It's the rightwing Christians going after other repukes because they are not "holy" enough. That's what I meant by my statement that I knew it would eventually come to this. I hope it blows the Southland wide open---we need that. As one of the protesters said, "from now on even someone running for dogcatcher will have to tell us how they stand on this issue".......it could be the division that finally breaks up these scum.

5. Yeah, I mean, did you see people like Pat Robertson...
going apoplectic (sp?) when the Supreme Court overturned the sodomy law?

He was going off on the very institution that gave him this fundy-friendly administration. These radicals' loyalties are very fragile.

35. It is in a closet - which is appropriate because
Jesus said, "Don't do as the hypocrites and Pharisees do and pray loudly on street corners, but when you pray go into the closet and shut the door" - or something to that effect. Maybe someone should point this out to the fundies.

These people are disturbed (and disturbing).

Anybody else wonder how Pryor fits in with all this? He is standing against the fundies on this, and showing off how devoted he is to the rule of law. I wonder if he will be re-nominated (or re-pushed, or whatever--I can't remember the status of his nomination), and use this to "prove" what a good guy he is (legally speaking).

37. 100 people? A bigger crowd than that
probably gathers in Alabama to watch two dogs screwing. (Sorry, Alabamians, couldn't resist). Actually wasn't most of the crowd from other states? How is their religious freedom impacted one way or the other by what goes on in an Alabama STATE courthouse? In fact, isn't the outfit that paid to have the "rock" put there (Coral Gables "Ministry") based in FLORIDA? Outside agitators!!

7. The first thing that popped into my head was....
these christian fundies were the main people to tell us to just "get over" the Supreme Court's handing of the presidency to Bush...and now these same people can't get over the removal of a slab of rock from a courthouse.

Their once much-loved Supreme Court institution, that made G.W. their holy president through the power of the lord, is now the devil incarnate to the fundies.

And it's just unbelievable that these fundie people can't find an important cause to stand for, and get a life already!!

I was a bit taken aback when they focussed on some people bending over in prayer, and showed full shots of some particularly large arses pointed heavenward......
(1). First, repent for yielding to the temptation of lust for food. (Phil 3:19, "Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things".)

Nonetheless, I woke up my husband to watch it. It was almost as good as the Elian Gonzalez raid.

I think everything they air is given to them free, and so they show little (or no) discretion. I wonder if Pacifica has ever offered free programming to the military??

Don't be confusin the TV Evangelists. Everybody has their own schtick, dontcha know? Jerry Falwell has his Clinton Chronicles tapes and his Moonie supported university, Jimmy Sweigert has his great big Bible and his prostitutes, Oral Roberts has his prayer cloths and his suicide pacts with God, Pat Roberts has his diamond mines and the ability to redirect hurricanes and tornadoes, Robert Schuller has his glass cathedral, James Kennedy has his robes and his smugness, James Dobson just knows that gays and lesbians can be "healed" - who could ask for more than that?

First off, that was the best title I've read in a long time. Second, yeah they do destroy each other. I believe in this society of greed and selfishness (among which freepers dominate) that type of persona translates into religion also. They are only in it to get in to heaven, they don't give a shit about anything else, in my view you should understand and love your religion, not just follow it. Them? They are so used to being told everything that they don't want to understand anything.
