2. I've found 'ingnore' useful for those few posters
who keep repeating the same thing over and over without acknowledging facts contradicting their theories, or even bothering to acknowledge the counter-argument, and the only reason it's useful is because, without ignore, you'd just waste all your time repeating the same thing over and over again, asking the same unanswered questions. Before using ignore, I'd find myself wasting all my time with one person, getting nowhere and not being able to address other, more interesting arguments. It's also good for the blood pressure.

3. Nah
and I never hit alert, though I threatened to once.

It seems like this thread rating feature will be added to the list of unused buzzer and bell options.

4. I dont.
I have had folks say that if they get a "stalker" an ingore feature is helpful. So far I havnt been flattered by having an online stalker here at DU, so I dont really see a need for an "ignore" lits.

Part of the fun here is reading posts and thinking to myself, "you bozo!". :P

It would be pretty boring if I agreed with everyone. Thats what the lounge is for...lite stuff.

5. Nope, not me
I have one teenager and one "almost" teenager, I have my own built-in "ignore" function.

6. Not me
I agree. "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day." You never know when someone you've given up on might post something that really affects the way you think about things.
