Transcript: Dean calls Wolf a Republican....calls him on Abu Graib news.
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0408/29/le.00.html

SNIP..."BLITZER: When you say he broke the law, those are strong words. And Governor Marc Racicot, the chairman of the Bush-Cheney campaign, was on this program earlier. He made the point that lawyers, when they're giving legal advice, that's not necessarily the same as having an active political operative working for a campaign, working for the so-called 527 advocacy groups.

Because, as you well know, Governor, if you take a look on the Democratic side, there are a lot of Democratic Party activists who are intimately involved in those same MoveOn.org or advocacy 527 groups, as well.

DEAN: Well, now, Wolf, you sound like the Republicans. (I thought he said *you* sound like a Republican)Their defense is, "Oh, the Democrats are doing it too." The truth is that there's a firewall that you're -- those groups are not allowed to talk to John Kerry or his campaign, and they haven't.

However, what we have seen is two people, both of whom have resigned, which ought to tell you something, who have been intimately involved, and one of whom appeared in the ad.

That is against the law, and we're going to find out, unfortunately not until after the election....."

SNIP...."DEAN: I didn't say that. What I said was, it appears from the political goings-on that there was very much of a connection. Secretary Ridge himself went out to lavishly praise the president during his announcement. Several newspapers have looked at this, including The New York Times and The Washington Post.

I might add, I'm surprised there hasn't been more play with The New York Times story this morning, or yesterday, that showed that the Abu Ghraib scandals may well reach into Secretary Rumsfeld's office.

What is going on in this administration? How come you guys aren't paying more attention to it?

BLITZER: Well, we're paying attention. Those reports, the Abu Ghraib prison investigation reaching the office of the secretary of defense, that was widely reported, once the reports, those two reports came out, the Fay report, the Schlessinger report came out last week.

Governor, unfortunately we're all out of time. We're trying to do the best job we can covering all the news here on CNN. Governor Howard Dean..."

You did not sound sincere there, Wolf.

2. Damn! I wish he was our candidate. The man has courage.
I'm voting for Kerry but I wish he'd start sounding like he wants to be president, rather than just playing it safe.

6. Well, I'm certainly voting for Kerry, but my HEART still belongs to
"Hollerin' Howard."

He sure does speak for me. He STILL does speak for me. What would we do without Howard Dean - as activists, or as a party? What would we have done without the good doctor's infusions of calcium supplement to our collective backbone, and his surgical loosening of many of our party's tied-up tongues?

I still LOVE Howard Dean. I relish every quote and every appearance wherein he dissects some blowhard as though he were manning an autopsy table. Dear GOD but we need him! I hope they designate him the new Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He's the courageous firebrand we need, and he's proven he's got the chops when it comes to fundraising. What more could they ask for????

3. "trying to do the best"
We're trying to do the best job we can covering all the news here on CNN, says Wolf.

Come on! You're supposedly the source of record for cable news! (More Americans trust CNN and all that bs in the ads...)

We need better than "a good try." We need responsible, competent journalism -- now.

5. THIS IS PART OF THE NEW KERRY "TOUGH LOVE" EFFORT
with the media and these other GOP kissing scumbags.

For example, Kerry personally called Bob Dole due to his ahole remarks to the media about him. Let Dole know he was damn unhappy about it!!!!!! and Dole started backup up.

7. Dean can get away with statements
that Kerry can't. If Dean were the candidate for president, he'd also have to be more careful in what he said so it couldn't be twisted against him. Look what they did with his "scream" which was nothing more than a pep rally for his supporters.

10. It appears you do not know the good doctor very well
It is not in his soul to not speak out on the issues and for the people.

He is a fighter for We, the People and has ten times the energy and is working harder than any other candidate that is campaigning today.

I am writing his name in on my ballot in November, as he is the only leader that addresses my concerns.

11. And more the shame to our country, politicians, and our people.
That a man can not speak out and be president. What a very sad thing.

And you know what? How do we know it would not be a good thing to do? Maybe if people just spoke out?

David Letterman the other night said he liked Howard Dean, that he just sat down and told you what he thought. He wondered as well why politics can not be that way.

Maybe if we tried.

8. By the way, I loved the statement Dean made leading up to this
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 02:36 PM by calimary
excerpt:

"The president gets to have it both ways. He says, "oh, no, we don't question John Kerry's service"; his own people are in cahoots with the people who put those lies on television.

This is a president whose word is no good. At least many Americans believe that, including me."

ANOTHER GREAT LINE, AND SUPERB MEME from the good doctor - that we can just RUN with:

This is a president whose word is no good.

Just like, months earlier, he said the republi-CONS have proven that they "simply don't know how to handle money."

I tell ya, Howard Dean is a Gift from God. And, thank heavens, he's OURS.

There's GOLD in them-thar brains of his. And I hope we ALL mine that gold, for all we're worth!

Dean should not be the only one saying it. Everyone can say it.

9. THIS is how to handle the media whores
Call them on their bias -- humiliate and expose them, right on live national tv. It's like a quarterback getting sacked play after play, and then throwing a long bomb to a wide receiver downfield. Get them back on their heels. Make them think twice before they do it again.
I saw this segment and thought, God, why can't Kerry and all the other Dem "spokespeople" have just a little bit of Dean's fire? He was fantastic, and he reduced Wolf to a blubbering idiot.

24. CNN Outfoxed Fox In "Wrapping Up" That Interview.
It was hillarious.

Did you see Dean's little chirpish grin as he delivered the "why aren't you covering the Abu Graib prison story" question to Wolf after he'd insinuated Wolf was Republican.

The Dean grin was priceless. Classic "I gotcha".

Dr. Dean!

34. ha, ha, ha! Wolfie tried to give him the bums rush
and Dean was having none of it. Got Wolfie but good, telling him he sounded like a Repub, and asking him why he isn't chasing down the real news about Abu Graib scandals going all the way to the top.

Then the Good Doctor smiled BIG - hee, hee

Wolfie pissed his pants.

22. Dean was excellent against Blitzer. Didn't let him sidetrack him in any
way. Dean "stayed on message" and seems to have learned the way to defeat the Repugs at their "own game." Every time Wolf tried to trap him with a "peronal comment" to get at Dean...Dean did a "deflect movement" and just rattled off the "Democratic Talking Points" and beat Wolf and Repugs at their own game.

Kerry needs to use him more. Dean has learned a lot...and he's fresh and has a huge following. He's a "white" Sharpton...and where IS Shapton, anyway? Whore Media to scaredy cat to have him come on a show where he would "singe the hell out of any opponent."

And, what about Carol Moseley-Braun? Why have we not seen her voice which is much more compassionate, and connecting with average Americans than Donna Brazille (IMHO) who really is so "insider" at this point she's very "establishment."

Give me more of Dean, Sharpton, Moseley-Braun, and Kerry's grey haired champion on foreign affairs...(can't think of her name but she's excellent) Can someone help me with her name?
