Chimpy describes Iraq as a "catastophic success"
Can Dumbya get any dumber?

Bush also acknowledged in the interview that the administration did not anticipate the nature of the resistance in Iraq, and he said that was his greatest mistake in office. "Had we had to do it over again," he said, "we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success, being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."

Democrats tried Sunday to exploit that acknowledgement. "The president is now describing his Iraq policy as a catastrophic success," Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards said in Washington. "I, like most Americans, have no idea what that means. but it is long past time for this president to accept personal responsibility for his failures and for his performance." Edwards said the Iraq war "has clearly been a failure."

5. Is he preparing us to find out that we have lost Iraq, and on the
way to losing Afghanistan. We are in such a mess and no visible way to get out. Sometimes I think just leave, but feel that we cannot leave that country in shambles.

16. Since "catastrophic" has more than two syllables
most of the conned true believers will assume it means something akin to "magnificent" or "supercalifragelistic."

19. I like that - "the perfect title for his memoirs."
But then maybe it makes perfect sense to him --- if his goal in the first place was to create a catastrophe.

25. Another example of the Rove strategy
Take a negative perception--the war is a catastrophy-- and spin it to reflect a positive perception---catastrophic success.
A little bit of honey makes the medicine go down!
Republicans are addicted to these oxymorons as they enable them to live with their hypocracy.
Compassionate Conservative is the prime example.

Franks warned of chaos before Iraq war started

THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

NEW YORK - The U.S. general who routed Saddam Hussein's army in three weeks warned before the invasion that a quick victory could lead to a "catastrophic success" because the United States was not prepared for postwar anarchy in Iraq.

If Rumsfeld recalled the phrase from Franks' admonitions (I wouldn't doubt that at all--good catch), surely his explanation of it was inspired.

And now our pResident parrots the ravings of this lunatic. Brilliant.

Bush has lived up to his dull promise by echoing the disaster as a positive. Clueless is as Clueless does.

33. If this is sucess . . .
I'd hate to see what 'failure' looks like.

This label, 'catastrophic success', stems from Straussian influences on the NeoCon cabal, i.e., language need not serve to (or even strive to) represent the truth, but instead becomes just another tool in a quasi-Nietzchean "Lust for Power"
