NPR: Liberals Add to Criticism of Mainstream News Media
Link to their segment:
http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=3852885

Some of this is great, but NPR still lends some support to the idea that there is a liberal media. And who says NPR is not RW?

Also, Koeppel states we the viewing public are at fault because we do not want real news, we want the dumbed up stuff.

1. I'm not going to sign onto their dumb site
By "Koeppel," though, do you mean "Koppel?" or is there someone named Koeppel who thinks Americans are dumbasses as much as the beloved Koppel evidently does?

Thanks in advance.

2. Yeah, I meant Ted. Sorry
Its hard leaving out that extra e. To me, the right way to spell Koeppel includes that e.

The audio file is pretty good and has a couple of good Jon Stewart quotes. It is worth a click.

4. Okay, thanks
I should check it out, I know, but Ted Koppel blaming the public for his willingness to put on a conservative-packed shitshow is hard to stomach.

3. this was a crappy report
...it started out promising but then their own "fair and balanced" approach emasculated the main point.

Koppel? WTF? Why did they use him as an expert? Nightline is so late that it doesn't really count as mainstream news. I can count on my fingers the number of times I've seen it and i'm a news junkie to the max.

I am so sick of journalists trying to tell both sides of a story when they should be interpreting what's really happening.

Of course, when they're part and parcel to it, i guess that's a bit much to expect.

5. If Koppel is right, then why did viewers flock to PBS and CSPAN for...
...convention coverage? People clearly wanted to see what the networks were denying them.

Why is F911 one of the top grossing films? The hunger for real information about what's going on in the world sent people in droves to that movie.

I don't doubt that the networks are giving a segment of the population what they want, but it's not like the crap they put on the air and call news is doing all that well in the ratings. about 7-9 million people watch all three news shows each night. I think about 11 million listen to NPR.

I bet that I could get you 15 million news viewers each night with a version of the news that is interesting, informative and accurate. And many of those viewers would be people too sensible to watch the shit that's passed off as news today.

6. Translation: Member stations are losing donors because of NPRs RW...
bias. The stations are complaining, so we're going to belittle anyone who complains of RW or LW bias.
