* talks of discipline and courage, where's my barf bag?

"We believe that these ideals - liberty and freedom - make it possible for people to live together in peace, and the Olympics give the world a chance in the middle of a difficult struggle to celebrate international peace and cooperation,"

:wow:

Bush*, here's a hint: ACTIONS, not WORDS, define people. Bugger off, you false prophet...

1. Walk your talk
Bush has always said one thing and done another. And he has the audacity to call the deep-thinking Kerry a flip-flopper!

2. Slightly related

I haven't given this too much thought, but it occurs to me that your gripe is similar to one I have with "born again" Christians. For the born agains, it's not acts that will save your soul, but what you profess. It doesn't matter what kind of crap you heap upon other people, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, you have a key to heaven. You could live the life of Christ himself, but if you don't profess an acceptance of Christ as the only path to God, you're damned.

Just seems like there's a correlation there -- what one says is more important than what one does.

11. "charismatic" xians beleive that constant prayer and the endless
Edited on Sat Aug-14-04 11:29 AM by librechik
repetition of Christ's name is all you need to be saved, get rich, fuck your neighbor's wife in Jesus name, cure the arthritis in your elbow, win the lottery etc.etc

They talk a lot about the labels of the Lord and repeat the easy catch phrases in the Bible, but they don't seem to understand him at all.

How is this different from the head-copped chanting of satanists?

Watch Pat Roberts show sometime. They are a satan worshipping witch's coven no more no less. (no offense to my pagan brothers and sisters--at least you are honest about your beliefs and they don't harm soldiers)

5. The "born agains" that I know used to be pretty hard core drinkers,
drug addicts, slept with multiple partners and in some cases, lived a life of crime. Professing the faith ad nauseum is their way of making up for the lives they had lived, in my opinion. That wouldn't be so bad, except they're imposing their perspectives on religion on you and imply that they're on the right path and you're not.

10. Jesus as therapy
I've known many of the same. And that's all fine. Recognizing that the universe is bigger than yourself and that there are some universal truths can be a very theraputic experience. I really don't even mind that people get so excited about the changes in their lives that they want to tell everybody all about it. It's the transfereance of the notion that beliefs matter more than actions from religion to political acts that gripes me.

9. Having known many born-again Christians...
Bush's hypocrisy is no surprise. He has done nothing, NOTHING in his entire miserable life but fuck up things for other people. Typical MO of a born-again Christian. They mean well, but are unable to be honest with themselves, so they continue to live the lie where a few simple words are atonement for many heinous actions. He really believes he's some kind of savior, when he's really an antiChrist.

6. ewwwwww
Discipline? What kind of self-discipline does one have to drink like a fish until the age of 40?

I'm so tired of the Bush Crime Family heckling decent, hard-working Americans about values, discipline and morality when their understanding of these concepts has proven to be ZERO.

8. Thanks!
:D

It's a dual-purpose slam. One against *, the other against McCoronary. That restaurant doesn't serve food, it serves hospital admission forms (though the big mac supersize deal gives the consumer a burial plot to go along with it).
