Porter Goss on Plame
(from 10/3/03)

Goss says CIA leak not worthy of committee action

BY CORY REISS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Porter Goss said Thursday that the uproar over allegations that White House officials purposely identified a covert CIA agent appears largely political and doesn't yet merit an investigation by the House Select Committee on Intelligence, which he chairs.

Goss, who was a CIA agent himself from the early 1960s to 1971, said he takes such leaks seriously, but he distinguished between a willful violation of federal law and an inadvertent disclosure.

~~~~~~~~
"Somebody sends me a blue dress and some DNA, I'll have an investigation," Goss said.
2. What a sniveling little piece of shit.
Oh yeah, a consensual affair between adults is a MUCH bigger concern than a possible breach of national security.
5. BTW: The "blue dress" quote is real...
I'd expect to hear a question or two on "what the hell did you mean by THAT" during his confirmation hearings.
6. This is why he is not qualified.
I don't care what party he belongs to. We don't need members from the House or Senate as CIA directors. They can not be impartial.
As transparenty as Heydrich, and just as murderous.
May God Help Us All if Goss control the Imperial Secret Police.
These people are MONSTERS, especially Goss.
11. If he truly could distinguish
between a willful violation of federal law and an inadvertent disclosure, he would know that Plame's cover was blown due to a violation of federal law and that's why Fitzgerald is investigating! Duh!
12. Well, there you have it, the CIA Director says it's not worth...
...looking into so that's it then. Not! This prick is in office for less then 3 hours and he is already carrying out BushCo directives for cover-ups and deception. The Senate needs to insists on Plame disclosure and leaks and keep the pressure on the White House. As for Porter Goss, he needs to be disqualified as extremely partisan and a BushCo operative unfit to be the Director of Central Intelligence.:nuke:
13. The Republican quid pro quo.
Inadvertant disclosure? I hope that Dems fillibuster this guys nomination....only 3 more months. Than Kerry can nominate someone who doesn't view intelligence as a political tool for Republicans.
18. An inadvertent disclosure???????
To what -- four or five reporters????? (Novass was the only one who ran it). How many times can you do the same thing inadvertently? At a certain point -- perhaps it should click in your peanut M&M-sized brain that maybe it wasn't so inadvertent.
C'mon. It's gotten to the point that this administration and the right wing in general just thinks they can throw out any piece of crap line of b.s. and everyone will nod in agreement like a nation of bobblehead dolls.
22. The real spook won't take orders from this clown nor will they give him
much info.
He is a non issue and will be gone come January.
Meanwhile, the chess game goes on and Cheney isn't doin too well.
My money is on the spooks who really serve because they love America.
