I'm on a Bash the Media rampage.
I need Fox News email. I'm on a letter writing roll. I'm cranky as hell today.

3. Complaining to Fox
...is like writing to the KKK about how biased they are.

It will only give them a woody and encourage them.

4. Don't be too sure
I sent O'Reilly an email calling him a coward and a liar after his Michael Moore interview because he evaded Vietnam but said he would sacrifice himself to defend Fallujah. The administrator at Fox News sent it back to me and told me it was "undeliverable."

Right wingers can dish it out but they can't take it. If they're afraid of a little email from someone like me, then they've got really thin skins. I've written far nastier emails to CNN and CBS, and they didn't send it back to me.

5. If you read all that into a mail server glitch
...then you're seriously deranged.

6. Yes, except that it wasn't a mail server glitch
There was a message from the administrator saying that he found it "inappropriate." And you really should calm down a little. There's no need to get personal.

7. They use that 'inappropriate' button on their keyboard
...about a thousand times a day, if not more.

Last year someone at work signed me up for the Fox email news alerts. I tried to unsubscribe 3 times but it kept sending. When I sent emails to their administrator describing the problem, they told me to use the unsubscribe form. When I replied I already did that several times they sent message saying they were 'concerned' I was upset, but couldn't help me unless I used the unsubscribe form.

You are wasting your time. Fox (and the others) will only change now if they are broken up.

9. I worked at an ABC station for over a year
and I never saw a keyboard with an "inappropriate" key on it. Whatever, that's not the point. Media is all about business. Fox has developed a business plan to make money that caters to conservatives. They are either #1 or #2 in cable news depending on which model you use for judging. In spite of this, they still lag behind the major networks. And their ratings have been falling sharply, as have all cable news outlets. Maybe they will only change if they got broken up. And maybe, if their ratings fall low enough and they get enough angry complaints, they might change on their own. Who can really say for sure? The point is, you shouldn't chastise people for trying. If you don't want to protest in that way, then fine. But others do, and I support it. And it's also cathartic. Sometimes people just need to vent their rage. What's wrong with that?

13. Fox and the rest of News Corp
...are on a conservative crusade. The middle class now are very poor in terms of relative wealth and there is now more value in manipulating public opinion than selling ad time for a demographic that has very little to spend. Corporations and their wealthy investors HAVE all the money, and intend to secure their position by exercising CONTROL wherever possible. The very fact that the public allowed this disparity in the first place is proof to them we are too dimwitted to govern despite being dangerous to the self-interest of the wealthy; No longer citizens, and now no longer even a market... we are a mob to be controlled. In their eyes we try to use votes against them instead of pitchforks.

You can forget CNN as well. They have been converted.

NBC, CBS and ABC are all in various stages of changing their own organization around the 'mob control' world view. Their progress is slower only because they are broadcast and there is a lingering meme that the FCC expects news to be presented in the public interest. By all means, complain to these three networks and also to the Pathetic Broadcasting Service as there are still people there who can make a short-term difference or at least make their essential message less brutaly obvious. But I think the media in general have gone past the point where they should be pleaded with and now must be done to.

I want people to try, but some avenues are pointless. I am also getting fed up with how clueless most Democrats have been about media affairs. Sometimes I need to vent about it. ;)

12. LOL
Maybe they were unable to find O'Reilly. He was off in the spin zone trying to figure out how to respond to Moore's question about whether or not he would sacrifice his child to secure Fallujah.

I am feeling downright violent. God help the person who pushes me too far today.

I pray my abusive boss doesn't come in today. I don't think I could put up with his crap today.

16. OK, so thanks for the input.
When I get brain rampage, I need to vent out at my source of anger. O'Reilly is the perfect object of my rage. He's a Stepford Mouthpiece.

Who cares if they don't read our emails. At least we take action. Sometimes that's all I can do at 1 AM when I can't sleep because I'm creating poll questions in my head. I'm a raving lunatic and I'm voting Bush out in Nov which seems like a lifetime away. So, in the meanwhile, I crank out venom to networks. Shit, before the 2000 election, I kept my mouth shut about everyting. No more.

Thanks for the addresses. I will use them for middle of the night therapy.

15. You're wasting your time. You might as well write to
The Onion and challenge the veracity of their reports.

I feel the same way that you do, but the chances of your letter changing their policies are the same as they are of me ever buying anything from a spam ad, popup, or telemarketer call. Absolutely fucking none.

Hell, write to a celebrity you find hot and extend an invitation to the nearest hotel room. Your chances of success are better there.

I'm glad people like you are out there, but I hate to see good people's time wasted.

18. you have to get sneaky... like they do.
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 12:56 PM by TrustingDog
Suck them in with a Complimentary email - don your freepernishness and hold your anger - be in control - play them like the idiots they are. Throw laurels of appreciation at their patriotcy and clear vision and their love of everything free and wonderful in the world - of which Bush's america is a symbol.
Throw in some personal compliments as well - their style, a famous line they used to shoot down a librul, their hair... anything vanity.

You will surely get a response that way.

Then the Next email response to them should be slightly less flatterly, (throw in just one sentence that is insultive, but mask it well).

and keep on working it as far as you can.

Bet the dumb assholios won't even notice until it's too late.
