Was it planned for Kerry and Bush to be in Davenport at the same time?
I thought I heard something on the news that implied Bush went to Davenport at the same time as Kerry in order to disrupt him and dampen his impact. Did anyone else hear that?

1. I heard that Kerry had planned his event a long time ago
and it was well known to be a small indoor meeting, not a rally so there is a very good chance Bush campaign was trying to steal his thunder today.

2. I don't know, but ...
I saw on the news that Kerry's bus drove right past Bush's rally location, LOL!

5. Well, the Repukes are good at that sort of thing.
Remember the guy following Barack Obama a few months back?

I can't remember the guy's name, but he followed him everywhere with a video camera. He even followed him into the men's room.

6. Yeah, I can't wait to see the chimpster show up
here in Illinois.

I'm sure he'll be here, but in a safely Republican part of the state like DuPage County or Kendall County.

8. This is a longstanding tactic of shrubco. Remember during the
primaries, when NH had record turnout, there followed shortly after an appearance by the shrub "planned long in advance" (right). This also happened in South Carolina, among other places.

In other words, the Repubs know that the Dems and Kerry have momemtum and are building more. They apparently feel these appearances by the shrub help draw the locals' attention away from the Dem ticket and somehow reinforce the tendency to vote shrub, or maybe stop undecided but shrub leaning voters from continuing to consider K/E.

I have no idea of such a strategy works but I see no reason why it should. Especially since shrub and cardiac Dick are such terrible speakers compared with Kerry and Edwards, the contrast is not favorable. I would think many people looking at shrub's tired mug on the tube would have it reinforced to them why they were considering voting Dem for the first time in decades in the first place.
