'A mental health survey conducted after the 9/11 terrorist attacks found that about 40 percent of 4,739 Pentagon staff who responded were at high risk for post-traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, depression, generalized anxiety or alcohol abuse.'
Of course, this doesn't matter to Bush or the Republicans who want him re-elected at any cost. It doesn't matter to Tom Ridge, who explains that the latest alerts are thanks to George W. Bush's " leadership in the war against terror" (

It doesn't matter to them that there are flight attendants who can't fly, that there are firefighters who left the force on disability due to stress, that some people still can't hear a plane without instinctively looking to the sky to see if it might plummet into their city, that parents are uneasy sending their kids off to school, that some people's nerves are finally healing only to be sent into hypervigilance once again due to a terror alert that is based on 3+ year old information.
No, it's more important that Kerry's post-convention attention is pre-empted. It's more important to this adminisatration that it is painted to look like it is doing its job. It's crucial that Abu Ghraib is forgotten, that WMD's are forgotten. Fuck the citizen's well-being, there's an election to be won; and it's sick.
Thanks for letting me rant.
