FUCNN. Literally laughing! Bill Schneider comparing the convention to the failed George McGovern. This is total bullshit. Carol Lin just asked Schneider if Kerry 'had blown his wad' at the convention. This is truly sickening. FUCK CNN http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/08/01/polls.bounce/index.html

Did she actually say that?

On edit: I read in another thread that she actually did say that. :wtf: Since when is that a "journalistic" thing to say? I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but ... damn! Just when I think they can't sink any lower ... :eyes:

51. Like "Sloppy Seconds"?
Everyone was tossing that term around referring to Kerry's selection of Edwards because he was supposedly second to McCain (a lie).

The administration called Edwards "sloppy seconds" and the press ran with it until they realized they were using orgy-speak.

Totally naive.....

All words , phrases, and colloquialisms have etymologies....

And the etymology of "blowing your wad" is that it's a euphemism for the male ejaculation....

the very first thing they mentioned was the CNN poll and said that this is the first time in, I think they said, 30 years that a candidate's numbers have gone down after a convention. There was no mention of other polls that show a clear bounce. That's what I get for not changing the channel before the "Heartland News" came on. I usually avoid it like the plague.

Are their some Atlanta DU's that will picket?
It would have to be something very creative in order to gain the attention of the national news sources.

Didn't Ben and Jerry's do something creative that was anti-Bush?

What if everytime their is a protest march of any kind we carry a sign that says "DON'T TRUST CNN AND FOX."

I don't want to let Fox off the hook either.

As I see it, we political junkies can instantly know when the dig comes in at CNN. Fox and other outlets.

But, the average citizen does not. We need to get the truth out so that EVERYONE knows thatthey are not to trust CNN for anything.

Then, again, does anyone remember TIME's founder, Henry Luce? A real piece of shit....

The 1930s: Nazis Parading on Main Street Part 1: The Plot Against Roosevelt

One cannot hope to gain an understanding of fascism in America without first looking at its roots in the 1930s. For most readers, the 1930s evoke images of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. However, this wrenching decade of world economic turmoil involved far more serious events. From the beginning of the decade, events were conspiring to unleash on an unsuspecting world the horrors of the Second World War and the unfathomable inhumanity of the Holocaust. The Second World War would go on to shape the geopolitical scene for the remainder of the century. Claims arising from the Holocaust would still be front-page headlines as the world entered the 21st century.

The 30's were a decade in which Nazis openly paraded, unopposed, in the streets of America and were supported by many. Much of the details of 1930's fascism are still shrouded in secrecy. It has been over a half-century since the end of the war, yet news is still surfacing of corporate America's dealings with the Nazis. As of yet, no one has exposed, in a comprehensive manner, the connections between the 1930's fascists and today's American right wing. Many of the events of the decade have been quietly swept under the rug, such as the plot against Roosevelt. The press downplayed the assassination attempt at the time and even today, most people are still unaware of it.

Just as economic hardships in Germany led to the rise of Hitler, many Americans hit by the depression joined the fascist ranks. Likewise, it was the long and deep recession of the 1980s that lead to a reemergence of fascism, not only in the United States but worldwide, as the world transformed from the industrial age to the information age.

In the 1930s membership in fascist groups expanded, with some groups claiming over a million members. This influence extended to the very end of the twentieth century. Many of today's far right extremist groups were founded by former pro-Nazis, an example being the Posse Comitatus founded by former Silver Shirt leader, Henry Lamont Beach. Other far right extremist groups, such as the World Anti-Communist League, are rife with former pro-Nazis and even Nazi war criminals. The Republican Party has been infested with Nazi war criminals. Many of the ethnic heritage groups the Republican Party set up under Nixon are nothing short of havens for former Nazi war criminals. The American Security Council founded in the 1950s was formed by elements from three pro-Nazi groups of the 30s, and exerted a serious influence on the Reagan administration, as did the LaRouche fascist group.

That's what the viewer comment line says in a recorded message when you try to leave a message about their programming.

If you call during the day you wait FOREVER to talk to a live person. They supposedly record your comments and pass them on.

41. BOYCOTT CNN...NOW!!!
The absurdity of the American Enterprise Instituter's Schneider doing politics and polling for CNN is rivaled only by the Republican Party's Luntz doing 'focus groups' for C/MS NBC. I bet some serious money that 60%, at least, of the CNN audience consists of Democrats. A serious boycott could drop their audience by at least 20% (all the cable news operations have relatively small audiences). This would cost them serious bank...and then Ted Turner could buy it back at a bargain. Do it now!!!

45. If you're boycotting, be sure to let their advertisers know
that you won't be watching anymore and why. Let them know that their advertising dollars are being wasted. The advertisers are able to put enormous pressure on them. Also, let the advertisers know who you ARE watching...and why.

If the public (consumers) tell them directly they will begin to take notice. Don't forget to forward a copy to CNN and the network that you are watching. :)
