Racist quotation style?
I noticed that in the fourth paragraph of this article, the writer quotes Brazille as sayin "doin'" and "happenin'" instead of "doing" and "happening". It seems strange in that the President's accent and other southern accents are not usually quoted as accents with letters dropped instead of with correct spellings.

1. nice catch
that's pretty damn interesting.

I think you're probably right. Bush for example doesn't always use the most formal speech, and I doubt he gets quoted like that. You never see Bush quotes about "nucular weapons."

2. for Bush they actually clean up his language
no links now but I've seen cases posted here, where Bush will say something like "we've got no.." or something like that, and the WH transcripts will show "we have no...", etc...

3. who keeps track of racist statements in the media?
I think this might be worth bringing to some organization's attention. It might have been intended as a slur.

5. Commonplace
Reporters and editors ALWAYS clean up what the president says. Not just this one, but every single one. And yes, it ends up being quite racist. They will leave some poor person on the street talking conversationally, but they make all famous people sound nice.
