Are the democratic Think Tanks out of "thoughts"??
Are they ever ASKED by C-Span to put on symposiums??

If they are asked, do they DECLINE??

C-Span seems to have no shortage of live events from AEI,Cato and Heritage.

Is that because they FAVOR them, or are our people "too busy" or "too lazy" to volunteer/complain/actually put on some forums.

The fact that "liberal" opinions are rarely seen , except for the exploding head shows (where they are shouted down) is part of our "problem"..

We HAVE a message... we have a "take" on the issues of the day..but it is rarely shown to the public..

I am so tired of always having the AEI/Heritage/Cato et al being the messengers..

The conservatives blanket the airwaves, the tv screens, the newspapers, and they are seemingly the ONLY ones with ideas.. Is it any wonder that THEIR worldview is dominating???

1. You got it.
I guess C-Span, NPR, and PBS are really turning now. Isn't C-Span under threat from a Must-Carry thing hanging over their heads? PBS is under threat of an investigation by GOP lawmakers to see if they are too biased to the left.

2. I was under the opinion that the Dem Party (as part of their new
headquarters, etc.) was suppose to be creating just these things in order to counteract the republicans. What happened??

3. And when Dems are on
half the time its a wishy-washy moderate who won't make a strong argument for a liberal position and yields too much ground to conservatives.

I was especially disgusted with the Diane Rehm show about Fahrenheit 911. The supposed Democrat allowed the nut-job conservative to slander F911 and Michael Moore over and over again without a response. Couldn't they have found someone to defend the movie? I was seriously dissapointed with the show that day. It was very one-sided.

4. Same term used for different organizations...
In liberal "think tanks" they actually take the "think" part seriously, and try to analyze and find solutions to problems.

Conservative & "Libertarian" "think tanks" are P.R firms for certain ideologies, and so create these forums spcifically so C-Span will cover them as if they had anything useful to say.

6. There is room in those organizations, for a PR section
You can have the most profound thoughts of all time, but if no one hears them, they are useless..

We need to be fighting fire with fire...

5. Indeed
This is one of the BIGGEST problems facing progressives in this country.

We need to generate new ideas and popularize them just as the Republicans have successfuly done with their conservative agenda for the last twenty years.

We don't need the Democratic party to continue to focus on trying to get their share of corporate loot. That philosophy has failed in my opinion.
