Best Article Seen About Protests Along *'s Road Trip in PA
This is the best article I've seen about the protestors making a nearly-naked pyramid along *'s route Saturday.

http://www.lancasteronline.com/pages/news/local/7449?sessionID=843b9b02701d379b794ef5462604f5ef

The reporters really seemed to be having fun with this article.

"The president had to see the thumbs-down gestures and John Kerry banners, perhaps even the occasional obscene fingers thrust skyward as his bus passed by them."

"A seventh member of the group, who evaded arrest and identified himself as Spook Larue, said, “We met twice this week to practice, but we forgot to set up a cue for when Bush arrived.”"

Check out the comments following the article. There are only a scant handful of freeper-like opinions.

1. That story has made the rounds on DU

over the past couple of days. The "Thong 7" are becoming folk heroes! As is the guy who says he's sure Bush flipped him the bird as he protested along the road!

This story about the protesters is very significant because the Lancaster New Era is the editorially conservative paper in Lancaster. And while they covered Bush's visit to death, they really bent over backwards to include the protesters' opinions in both the main story and in the linked sidebar story about the protests. Lancaster County is EXTREMELY conservative, but the "conservative" paper managed to remain fair and balanced. I was impressed.

By contrast, the Lancaster Sunday News, which is supposed to be the "moderate voice" (the morning Intelligencer Journal is the liberal paper) printed two stories about the visit that included no opposing voices (all Republicans cooing about Bush and being victorious in Nov.) ... totally slanted piece by a reporter who is 1) a latter-day holy roller, 2) allowed to be both the POLITICAL COLUMNIST and the RELIGIOUS COLUMNIST for the same newspaper and 3) is married to her boss, the news editor! (who chooses the stories for the front page and is probably not too discriminating about what she writes about).

2. Keep up the protests and don't fear getting arrested. If the police
cannot see a dictatorship at work, then we need to get arrested a whole lot more to prove how wrong and undemocratic they are for ending a free America.
