How can one look at themself in the mirror and support
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 08:57 PM by Bush was AWOL
George W. Bush? I just can't get over that he still has such a large base that continues to buy this administrations bullshit. Unbelievable!

For the first time, today, I went over and checked out free republic. Wow! Let me just say I was completely blown away by the hate for liberals/democrats, and the absolute level of brain-washed mindless drones.

After wasting about an hour over there I am very concerned what will happen to our country if Bush is re-elected. Most of these people are absolute idiots and their loyalty to Bush is, well, pretty fucking scary.

The difference between that board and this one is, liberals are intellectually honest people and are willing to criticise the politicians they support like Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, etc., but these drones have Bush's back no matter how bad he fucks up our country.

Totally mind blowing experience to read the kind of shit that is posted over there. All I have to say is, Wow!

1. Welcome to The Struggle
That's the problem, most if not all freepers are loyal to Bush and hold the US Constitution in total contempt. In my own view each and everyone of them is a traitor, and their is only one way to deal with traitors.

My loyalty is to my country, and to the Constitution of the United States. I may not agree with what others say, but I will defend their right to say it. And as long as they cause no physical harm to another human being, I don't have a problem.

But I truly beleive that anyone who would deny the protections that the Constitution guarantees to others, should not be given those rights and protections themselves.

3. You are witness
to the largest cult in American history. The problem is our democracy is at stake and we have control of nothing (executive, congress, judiciary, media). We are all that's left to defend the Constitution. It's going to take alot of fortitude and dedication but our country is at stake.

5. I'm still just blown away
by their loyalty to Bush. They think he is a god. The dumbasses were actually impressed with his weak response of "Dick Cheney can be president. Next" I noticed they failed to mention Kerry's pretty clever retort. But, when I think abouot it there is a good chance that Faux news and Rush Limbaugh didn't cover it so they are probably unaware that Bush's tough guy approach was all for Naught.

4. The thing that amazes me about freepers....
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 09:28 PM by Jade Fox
is this: If we hate Bush, its because he has done all these terrible,
documentable things. They hate Kerry/Clinton/Hillary because.....
I don't know why. They have all these bizarre fantasies about the
Clintons murdering Vince Foster etc. that have no basis in reality, but
basically, they just hate.

I truely regret to say this about anyone, but they seem really stupid.

6. I've notcied that too
"The difference between that board and this one is, liberals are intellectually honest people and are willing to criticise the politicians they support like Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, etc., but these drones have Bush's back no matter how bad he fucks up our country."

It amazes me the gulf of difference between liberals who can be objective about how good or bad their leaders are, and those who follow mindlessly.

8. Another thing that amazes me about freepers
They harp all day long about protecting the constitution when it comes to the second amendment (I'm on the same page with them btw), but when we're talking about a complete assault on our constitution such as the unPatriot Act, they seem to welcome the newfound loss of liberty.

15. Another thing I've noticed...
is that freepers have so completely swallowed the whole "Liberal Media
Bias" that anytime they are presented with info that contradicts their
world view, they just deny that there is any truth to it. Bias is one thing,
but to believe major news organizations can just make stuff up whole
cloth and publish/broadcast it indicates people who are frighteningly
out of touch with reality.

9. Easy...
How can one look at themself in the mirror and support George W. Bush?

Greed. That's the only thing that comes to mind. My experience with the poor deluded souls known as Bush supporters is that they all believe that he's working for them and actually cutting their taxes for their benefit.

I find it especially funny when I see those same people profess how religious and God-fearing they are. Rather contradictory considering who they're supporting. How many people did he murder as Governor, again? How many people has he murdered in cold blood over in Iraq? Yeah, God must be up there cheering that moldy piece of Texas toast on, eh?

10. Well, I have friends that are Republicans,
and let me tell you they are nothing like what I read over there today. They think, and are willing to admit Bush is an idoit, but at the same time are not sold on Kerry. They say that if they knew they were getting another Clinton they'd vote for him in a second. However, they still fall for the bullshit WMD claims, Al-Queda/Saddam/911 ties every now and then.

14. I've gone to see it 3 times already...
Everytime I've gone, a Republican has been along for the ride. They ate it up and were blown away at first, but of course they immediately went home and checked out their right wing sources to see what they say and discredited it immediately. I do think it opened their eyes, but some refuse to admit it.

One of my buddies called me from Charlotte today and was asking me about the movie. He was listening to the Dan Patrick show (Dan and Rob have given this movie a lot of air time, btw) and heard Dan Patrick talking to Kirk Herbstreit on the air...and they were talking about the movie...and Herbstreit said, something along the lines of "you know, I'd really like to vote for George Bush, but after seeing that movie, I just don't know". We both went to Ohio State, so he obviously respects Herbstreit and now he is convinced he has to see the movie. I seriously wonder how many votes this movie will put on Kerry's side or atleast take away from Bush.

16. Just a suggestion.......
you might want to follow up with those friends you've taken to see F911, and show them "Uncovered", moveon's film. Expert after expert telling why all the lies couldn't have been possible. Yes, it's dated, as it came out last fall, but if they're still talking about AlQueda links to 911, etc, then maybe this would sink in.

You are to be commended for going 3 times and taking republicans! You've been doing your part, and you've made a dent. Sometimes all we can do is plant seeds. Those seeds may still germinate before Nov.

There are people we just can't get through to, no matter what we do.

So, give your self credit for what you've done, and if something else occurs to you, that's great, but don't worry over it.

7. "liberals are intellectually honest people and are
willing to criticise the politicians they support like Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, etc.,"

I would have agreed with you about that, before I came to DU. Just expressing something you don't agree with Kerry or Clinton here is sure to start a firestorm. Very sad, but true.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else." Teddy Roosevelt, 1913...

When I posted that quote the other day, I was angrily told that Kerry *isn't* president, so any disagreement with him is tantamount to aiding and abetting the enemy.

So, while I agree with you about "the other side" being ridiculously supporting * no matter what, there are still a few logs in our own eyes.

Here's hoping we can grow out of it.

Kanary

11. This is a great statement:

I've watched and read a lot about him and there is no way either he or Abe Lincoln would be a Republican today.
