Just had a stone thrown through my window... Freeper Terror?
About an hour ago. I called the police... No idea who or why other than 1, I think it is likely a few kids, and 2, I live in the Bible Belt and am an outspoken nonreligious Democrat. I write opeds to the paper all the time.

Has anyone ever been the vicitm of threats or destruction of property that seemed related to political activity?

15. Next time, just point a video camera out the window.
when your sign is stolen, just turn in the tape to the police.

19. I know how to stop sign stealer's!!!
There is a great product called 'Tangle-foot' that is generally used in the garden as a barrier to walking pests

The stuff is 2x worse than pine sap!!!

Outline your sign with it (it's cheap and available at most garden/hardware stores)

When the FReepiot comes for your sign, they will end up coated in an almost-impossible-to get-off substance...clothes, steering wheel, hair.....

Kerosene or nail polish remover will get rid of it (with work).

My guess is that your average freeptard would utilize these substances to clean the sh*t off while smokin' something...and BOOM!

The average IQ goes up in America.;)

22. Kerry signs are in high demand, eh?
That's cool!

We tape them to the inside of our front window. Fixes the stealing problem.

2. I'm So Sorry That Happened!
Whoever did it is a jerk, I hope they find them. I think you are very brave to speak out living in that kind of environment.

7. Well then they wonder why
we call them brown shirts

And in an answer to your question, I have not had property destroyed... but I have had the ever so popular, DO YOU KNOW WHO
I AM? Which usually is answered with... I don't give a rat's ass who you are...

Yep today I had my encounter with local idiot, and not a young one...

When I told him what I think of Dubya, he was... shocked... I chose not to be afraid... but I can understand why you are afraid, your son mostly.

Let us know how this ends

3. No, but I used to post from work on a "mixed" board
and the damn freeper fucks tried to get me fired.

They play dirty, and yeah, if you have Pro-Kerry signs in your yard, the motherfuckers won't hesitate to try some shit.

I recommend gun training, and the next time something comes through the window, firing a few rounds.

Fuck these pricks!

18. They're probably fired up over F9/11...
..there's a lot of tension right now. If you do have Kerry signs, and probably stickers on your car, I'm sure it was just some freeper frustration being released on you. I HOPE the police took this seriously... Try to get some sleep. They sound pretty cowardly.

9. Firing a few rounds will land you in jail
A rock through the window is a scary thing but you can't just fire a few rounds in response.

I have a gun for protection. But if you do have one like I do know the law.

It took me a long time to make. It was all over the parking Lott when I returned to my car. I would give my left nut to have been their when that BROWN SHIRT did it.

11. We had some guy come by and shoot BB's at our windows
He came by 3 or 4 different times. Got the jeep window and two windows at the front of the house. Pretty sure it was because of the pride flag out front. We haven't had any more problems since we installed a really obnoxious motion-sensing floodlight and a high tech security cam. We probably spent more money than we needed to on all the equipment, but after the guy cam back the 3rd time...

Anyway, I know what you're going through. Please take care of yourself and try and relax. Easier said than done, I know.

Hope life returns to a calmer state for you soon.

14. Sometimes kids just throw rocks, or light firecrackers by the front door
or ring doorbells and run. Hopefully, that's all it is, a kid thing.

20. Please be more careful.
I know from experience that you can not be a one person crusade to change a community's thinking. Instead, they will do all they can to destroy you, your reputation and your career. It's happened to me here in Lancaster, PA (also Bible belt country).

Save your efforts and your assets for where they can do the most good. Work on things on a state or national level. Write to papers in nearby big cities.

Every now and then, when you find things you can say that they can't possibly argue with--like how Jesus would feel about torturing mere suspects in a foreign land--you can speak out safely and perhaps effectively.

The important thing is to take care of yourself first. Discretion is indeed the better part of valor. And that means to pick and choose your battles with great care. Fight only those you are pretty sure you can win.

When I was in the service, about to be sent to Vietnam, I happened on Martin Luther King in a coffee shop at the Atlanta airport. He bought me coffee, and we talked. I told him how much I admired and supported his work. Before I left, he told me over and over again: "Take care of yourself. Be careful. We NEED people like you. I need people like you." I offer his wise advice to you now. Take good care.

23. Your sane advice means a lot to me........
Unfortunately, we, as a movement, aren't ready to really come together and be there for each other yet, so we need to remember that we can only do what we can do, and, above all, to take care of ourselves. Sometimes what that means is there's very little that we can actually do, which is too bad. Maybe someday that will change.

In the meantime, what you posted was the right thing at the right time for me to hear. Wish it was something that could be discussed here, but.........

Thanks.

Kanary

21. Update: bought a BB-gun 480 FPS, just wanted to have...
something other than a staple gun, which is what I grabbed last night when I was freaked out. It won't kill anything (well maybe a bird-not that I am going to find out) but it looks real and wouldn't feel very good.

I still have no idea who did it and can't find what they threw through the window.
