Has anyone heard about this? A friend of mine who dislikes all-thing MM stated this in an e-mail. I did a Google search and found nothing.

Help?!

1. Burden of proof for that claim is on your 'friend', not us.
I hate threads like this, btw.

2. You may hate threads like this, but it's an honest question.
MM's website has plenty of Gore Vidal stuff on it and Vidal has been as outspoken as MM in his criticisms of *.

I'd be surprised if it was true.

3. Exactly. It's not on us to prove he didn't, it's on your "friend" to prove
he did.

I don't see how this thread will accomplish anything but wasting DUers time looking for something that probably isn't even there.

4. I reckon your friend is thinking of Vidal Sassoon.
Vidal's recent essays seem to me to be completely in sync with the Moore film. Of course Gore is a tetchier than ever feller nowadays, so is likely to nurse a mysterious grudge against anybody, especially anybody on his "side," as a few the rest of us would see it.

He's brilliant, he's my favorite author ever (even above Henry James), but he's too sensitive and personally nasty for my tastes (as am I when I'm drunk).
