Colin does not have integrity and Condie is not articulate
yet both of these assertions were the accepted wisdom regarding them.

Why is that? I believe it was a form of racism - that as long as we saw a black man who wasn't stealing our hubcaps or a black woman who didn't say "nuh uh... oh NO you din't" we were willing to believe the best about them, in order to show how NOT racist we are.

Well fuck 'em both. He's a liar and she's a lousy speaker.

2. exactly...
it's like the african-americans at the Republican National Convention in 2000. There were a handful of them, but they all got prominent seats in front of the cameras.

10. oh, yes, the one who compared teachers to terrorists ?
and michael powell only got the job because of who his dad is.

and the problem with republicans is that they try to act like they are accepting of minorities just because they appoint a few to some positions when the problem is more about their policies which affect the larger population. it doesn't matter if they appoint a minority to every cabinet position if they have crappy policies which continue hurting the rest of the minorities.

and i always hate hearing the masses refer to african americans such as condi as "articulate" i mean c'mon, if condi were white, would folks say "oh my, that condi, she's so articulate."

no way! such inherent racism.

8. i swear every republiprick has to say 'articulate' & condi together
in the same sentence. i've watched it dozens of times.
could they possibly BEEEEEE more obvious?

and the same with colin. never heard of him till bushwar one, then all of a sudden, magnificent, articulate, commanding, wise, internationally respected, a beacon of integrity, colin powell...ta daaaaaaa.

i never bought it, i still don't. he has zero integrity, he's a war criminal like the rest. and condi is just plain freekin creepy

4. agree
i just finished reading the long vanity fair article on the path to war and condi comes off horrible. her only goal is to keep her relationship with bush strong and she isn't doing her job as national security advisor. rather than doing what is right or what would most protect the country she is trying to figure out what would make bush most happy .

5. I'll have to read that article
I never understood why it was a good idea to put an academic sovietologist in charge of national security a decade after the Soviet Union collapsed.

6. Rice and Powell are people who lack integrity and honor.
Nothing about them excuses that fact.

Not your hue, not your gender, not your age, not your sexual orientation . Not your religion, or lack thereof...none of these things makes people immune to being a bad person or doing bad things.

she doesn't lie.

15. obviously I disagree
I think Condie is a horrible speaker. She's hesitant, her voice breaks, she always seems nervous. She may have a large vocabulary, but that doesn't make her articulate.

17. she is a horrible speaker, seems like she is going to start crying many
times. you describe her just as i see her. she is very unsure of herself or what she is saying . it makes sense since her goal is to keep bush happy rather than do what is right for the country based on the knowledge she has.

powell is an ok speaker but nothing extraordinary.

13. NAACP's Julian Bond wanted to see W and was told to see Condi or Colin
according to Jessie jackson. Somehow, I doubt Bond's business concerned national security of State Department concerns.

16. Condi
OK I am probably going to get run off this site but I get turned on by Condi.

I disagree with her point of views, but I find tough women very sexy. I love it when she gets that tight lipped look. It is nice to see a tough and powerful minority woman.

I am a bit of a fan, even though I do not hold similar views to her. I really like seeing that a black woman from Birmingham Alabama could come so far. And be so sharp! Concert pianist, doctorate degree, multi-lingual, etc etc. She is an inspiration to me even though she holds views totally opposite of mine.

Colin Powell thinks he is white.

18. condi rice tough ? hahahhaha
if she was tough she would stand up to the shitty administration but instead she sucks bush's ass and does whatever she has to , to make him happy. a tough woman is someone like that woman, colleen rowley(sp) who came forward about info on terrorists before 9/11 which the higher ups ignored.

20. Confused....
Why would she fight against them? She is on their side.

Obviously, I disagree with her stances--she is not fighting for me. She supports the conservative point of view--the people you want her to fight against are ON HER SIDE. Why would any reasonable person say she is not tough just because she does not take down her own? She is a tough fighter for THEIR side.

I think she is a very strong woman and a smart woman--just on the wrong side. I don't demean people just because I disagree with them. I can still respect people who disagree with me. And, it does make me feel good to see a minority woman come so far, and accomplish so much, when she had so much against her.

If people hate me for that--no biggie.
