Has anybody heard the buzz saying Chris Matthews is going to endorse Dean?
Edited on Thu Jul-10-03 09:23 AM by StrongBad
While browsing the Dean blog, a poster relayed a message she received from a Dean related group via e-mail claiming that Chris Matthews will be announcing his support for Dean sometime soon.

Anyone know if this is BS? I can't see him being aligned with Dean all that much.

Thanks for the info.

2. Since when does "news" person endorse anyone?
Edited on Thu Jul-10-03 09:38 AM by ibegurpard
That sounds pretty fishy...oh, and Tweety? please keep your "endorsement" to yourself...the last thing any of the candidates need is your "support".

9. Of course
Hosts of news shows don't endorse candidates.

Mattews couldn't that. He's never even said
who he voted for in 2000 to the best of knowledge.

3. Here is the actual post on the blog I was referring to:
For ye doubters who do not believe (i.e. Karl NC, hehehe), the e-mail I got today:

"Hello Dean supporters!

"A colleague of mine was pumping gas today at a station in DC and happened to have a Dean bumper sticker on her car from a house party she attended with me. A man approached her and asked her what she thought of Dean and if he had a chance of getting the democratic nomination. Of course she said yes, and that he had a phenomenal grassroots campaign going on! She then realized she was talking to CHRIS MATTHEWS!!

"He told her that he will be on Meet the Press on Sunday at 10:00am on NBC and that he WILL BE ENDORSING HOWARD DEAN FOR THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION!! What great news. I think it is well-deserved! Just a heads up for those of you who want to watch it!

6. It sounds like Ariane N. Holm
has been taken in. That sounds like as bogus a story as I've ever heard.

he is a tv personality supposedly a news person he can't be endorsing candidates, but he can still show his favortism on his show, and it hasn't been towards Dean. But if he does do it, I will eat my shoe--hopefully a cake formed like a shoe like Hillary brought to Tucker Carlson.

7. He Kept Calling DEAN "the little guy"
a couple of weeks ago. One of even HIS guests murmured something, supposedly calling him on it, and Tweety said, "Well, he's about 5-6 isn't he?" And he was mockingly smiling at any mention of him.

8. Yeah, well
George Will endorsed Gephart. What exactly does it mean when a Repug endorses a particular Dem?

What would be good if Dean went on Softball after this "endorsement" and said, "Well, Chris, considering what a big fan you are of the current WH resident, I don't know whether this is good or not"

11. Not a chance....
I've seen him bad mouthing Dean subtly on his shows. If he endorsed anyone it would seem to be Kerry but even that doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

14. This Would be Good News

It's not the kiss of death. If it happens, it would bring in independents and Republicans. And it would break the solidarity of the pundits portraying Dean as a left-wing wacko.
