Some silly (admitted) questions about our nation & governance.
How pray tell does anyone in power propose/promise to insure (Healthcare) 100% of us?

Does anyone really think that the "Race to the Bottom" neo-Globalisation trend will pan out "Good" here in the states?

Is it possible that the increasing separation of wages (Ie. CEO v. Worker and Income Disparity) can be a benefit and not a detriment to society?

That institutional Racism of America will simply end with the current Governmental Framework that exists on, and maintains it, the back of it today?

That WalMart being the largest employer (And growing) in America, and the World, can possibly ever be a "Good" thing?

That a Poverty rate that hovers between 10-16% will ever end?

That a corporate Media will play "Fair" and Objective with our Political Process?

We've been on a thirty year skid into corporatism and it's not looking like the "Big Ideas" are being considered anymore, does anyone have an out-of-the-box answer?

I know, I'm being silly....

1. some responses...
1) Health Care: ask Canadians. See earlier post today.
2) Race to the bottom: the ultra elite wealthy do. They win no matter what 'game' is played.
3)separation of wages: We all come to value the 'simple' things in life.....like food (medical care already dangerously close here).
4)Racism comes from small minded insecure people who must put others down to push themselves up (in their own minds only of course). No matter what the government is likely, idiots will always be here.
5)Walmart...no comment
6)Poverty rate: see your question about CEO wages: poverty rate will not continue to hover, it will go up and up and up....or no, then again, the government can keep the dollar figure at a level that will define poverty level so that it fits the same percentage of people, regardless of reality (oh yeah, they do that NOW, don't they)
7)Corporate media....no comment...Howard Dean fan here!

Out of the box answer: when the oil wells run dry, everything will become completely different.....who knows? This could be a good thing....for those who survive.

2. I can comment on the Walmart issue....
...rebirth of unions and collective labor bargaining.

If the poverty rate is 10% to 16% that means that between 30 million and 48 million Americans are still living in poverty. Republican policies will ensure that they stay there while millions more will join them. So, yes I believe that democrats will turn that around.

The way to deal with corporate media is anti-trust suits.

CEO's are paid by the boards of directors, so get more labor representation on the boards and that gap will narrow.

Remember that neo-cons do not believe in the constitution of the United States. So they will try to control policy that feeds their greed and stamp out anyone who gets in their way. The way to fight back is to take away that which gives them their power, their money! Tax the shit out of them, like we did throughout the second half of the 20th century.

And as to the constitution: It's the framework by which all of this has occured.
